I wonder who got or will get the Hammer Horror titles that Anchor Bay held the rights to. They're all out of print on DVD right now, but somehow Amazon.com is allowed to do DVD-R on-demands on select titles for like 22 bucks a title.

I don't think so. Dumbo will be early in the year and not Diamond. This would have to be a diamond class film for fall 2010. I am glad it's coming though - it gives me hope we'll be seeing more films outside the 2 per year series.

Now that is something I can get behind. Fingers crossed something like this happens.

It would be nice if Blu Underground or ANYBODY would release some Hammer Horror on Blu-Ray... guess we have to hope for next Halloween.

Looks like Ghibli got beaten to the punch completely on releasing their movies on Blu in Japan before anyone else.

Well, again, we don't know if they were A- authorized, or again, the region B code could protect them just like Mononoke was out here on DVD long before Japan, the region code protected us

Well, since it is a Mexican release, it is A, but it sounds like a poor release (Japanese 2.0, no extras). I am assuming it is some upscale and not authorized by Ghibli. Still interesting to see these companies rushing Ghibli films out.

Jeff,

If one wanted to get "Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen" (the IMAX version) at Wal-Mart, do you think it's safe to buy in the faith that there will be a replacement program in the future, or do you think it would be wise to wait?

For those so inclined to comment, please disregard your feelings for the movie.

Hey Alan, why would there be a replacement program?
Anything wrong?

Since there's nothing "defective" about it there's pretty much not going to be any replacement program in the future.

+ 1 zillion! There's nothing wrong with the release, and the chance of getting a "replacement program" is minus infinity.

Honestly, I haven't been paying much attention to the issue. The first I had heard of it was on The Digital Bits:

Be advised that the regular Blu-ray version available at other retailers is unaffected.
I looked around a little bit on the forum here and stuff, but not a lot as I've been busy this week.... so my knowledge on the release is limited... to say the least...

Sorry Alan, did not mean to be a bit of a jerk. Paramount (for whatever reason) used dialnorm in the IMAX version, but not on the special edition. I turned the volume on my receiver from my usual 52 to 56 and the AQ is fantastic. There were also complaints about the dialog, but that is clear as a bell on my center. Basically it is a "Chicken Little" situation. Does get annoying after a while.

You weren't, but thanks for the "summary" regarding the AQ. That won't be an issue for me, so that's cool.

Sadly, I won't be able to go in the direction of Walmart today, and they are not available on-line anymore, so I may wait and hope it goes on sale...

Hi jeff,

Best Buy has a preorder up for The pianist dated for 11/10/09 and Amazon has nothing.

Another exclusive?

Also the 2005 Ellen Page movie Hard Candy () seems to be the same date and an exclusive as well.

Great films.

Can you shed any light or confirm these findings as correct? Thanks.
