Well, hopefully it will wind up on the schedule for later in 2009, otherwise it WILL be like torture.

Jeff,

Can we expect Paramount to be more aggressive releasing catalog titles in 09? I realize the format war and re-supporting BD may have caused some delays in 08.

I was just reading some reviews of the new Punisher movie and was wondering, is there any chatter about Lionsgate double dipping the first one? Perhaps the extended cut with lossless audio and better PQ?
Oh, and I asked this a page back, but you might have missed it I heard that Sony is planning on releasing Quarantine and [●REC] on Blu-ray on Jan 20th. Is there any truth to this? I have been wanting to pick up [●REC] but all the international releases are either 1080i50, don't have english subs, or both.

Thanks!

Jeff anything new on Saturday Night Fever being released? All we have heard is 2009. It would also be nice to hear something from Paramount about Grease as well.

Jeff, thanks for confirming what many of us had suspected based on our viewing of that BD.

Jeff, could you please confirm to us how many different HD masters (at this point in time) of LOTR were produced (and subsequently rejected) in a successive QC procedure as a concerted effort to get the best possible transfer out of the film master.

I really need some reassurance that if I see evidence of excessive grain reduction on the Blu-ray, that it arose from a compressionist at GDMX (WB) rather than from the mastering facility’s HD deliverable………….even though, I know firsthand that some was already baked into the digital intermediate process……………..

Lots

Double digits

Whatever WB does with it will be immaculate compared to some of the New Line masters I've heard about

Obviously as Penton says in his post, theraputic DNR was applied, but the tales I've heard about how high it was being turned up were hair raising.

I don't think anything you see will originate from the compressionist either. Typically it's being done at the mastering stage from what I understand, before it ever reaches them

Hi Jeff,

Will the movie The Matix: 10th Anniversary include a new BD encode or will it include the same build as the just released BD package?

I am wondering if there will be something special regarding PQ/AQ or will it just be the same disk in special packaging???

Hmm. I see The Ten Commandments is there. I assume this is the Cecil B. DeMille version. I hope. I thought I read The Passion of the Christ is coming out. It's not the Digital Bits list. If they both make it for 2009, I am guessing we might see them before Passover and Good Friday. Again, I hope.

Yes, Cecil B Demille, and people should be very happy with it.

Passion is already announced, hence not on that list

Big news there is Gladiator as far as I am concerned. With Braveheart no longer on Paramount's schedule, I need me some sort of quality sword & sandal ass-kicking movies. God taketh Braveheart from us, but giveth Gladiator...

I agree. This should look quite good. I remember how impressed I was with the 1080i broadcast.

If I remember correctly the Special Edition of the Ten Commandments was packed with special features including some stuff on the older versions and silent era movies(correct me if I'm wrong). Will that stuff be included on the blu-ray release as well?
