Can we take it that the upcoming BD of Batman Forever will still be the usual cut? I seem to remember in an Empire interview a couple of years ago Schumacher was taking positively about being involved in a longer cut, what happened?
No clue. My guess would be that WB doesn't think it's a selling point and doesn't want to pay for it

Frankly I doubt it'd help

Ahhhh, the mythical director's cut of BF. That title has long been rumored since Warner Brothers was trying to grow the DVD market. After this long, I agree, that WB doesn't want to waste the time.

I believe some of the rumored alternate cuts appeared on the SEs/Legacy collection in the deleted scenes. Personally what I remember would not change the film much. BF is okay, B&R is the one that needed saving, but I don't think there is any footage that save that stinker.

The game's delay should be a good thing for it, so that the gameplay will match the great writing and acting better.

The new Riddick game serves much more as another sequel, and includes the first, outstanding Escape from Butcher Bay. A must play for Riddick fans. Great story, great acting and a blast and a half to play. Hopefully the new expansion will live up to that legacy as well
Yeah, I think that making the game made them excited about it again.

Nevertheless, the game I have seen thus far looks awesome and I really hope it lives up to how it looks.

B&R is the first movie I almost walked out on. I didn't and have regretted it ever since....

I'd let this pass but it's the second time I've seen this today (the other being on the job at work).

Is it the lose/loose of late 2008?

Am I whining?

Jeff, also what are the chances that the Real Genius sequel gets greenlit?

My crystal ball says its small....

They DO however need the film on bluray or at least as a dvd special edition.

I hate to sound like a sycophant (if I'm honest I think some people in this thread can be, no offence to you Penton), but I generally find your grammar, spelling and punctuation to be impeccable.
I'm such a spelling/punctuation/grammar pedant that I often think it to myself, LOL.

* I actually meant in your own thread, I didn't realise we were in Bill/Jeff's.

No idea, agree it needs to be SE'd. Since the end product would be Sony, perhaps Penton can activate a moral imperitive to find out

Jeff, any idea if DK was indeed able to sell 1 million copies on blu? I expect it did easily.

Jeff:

Any rumblings of more Michael Mann movies on blu?

Most of us know HEAT is coming down the pike, but there are other gems such as THIEF (in sore need of a restoration, and is still only available in the non-anamorphic enhanced edition from some ten years ago! Which was also taken from dodgy looking PAL master)... or THE INSIDER?

Next year would be a good year to trot some more Mann titles out, with the highly anticipated (at least by me!) PUBLIC ENEMIES set for release.

And on a non-Blu note... whatever happened to the DVD release of THE KEEP that Mann was supervising?

Keep up the great work at the Bits!!!

On that note how far "down the pike" are we talking for HEAT?

Nothing yet. If it didn't, I'm sure it got close

Iron Man may have broken a million first however

Heat I've heard next year, but no promises. Maybe around the same time that the Christian Bale/Johnny Depp gangster movie he did hits theaters or video

How are the studios approaching television on Blu-ray in general for the foreseeable future? I am starting to see a lot of animated television releases like South Park and Venture Brothers being announced but regular shows seem few and far between aside from an odd assortment. HBO for instance would seem to have a good number of shows that would translate well to Blu-ray but they have been fairly quiet.

Such as ROME. Jeff, will we ever see a Blu-ray version of this excellent short lived series?

Paramount and WB are taking a very aggressive stance when it comes to TV.

HD animation has a good "wow" factor that few other shows can match, so it's good HD fodder. South Park is also a top seller on DVD

HBO is far more likely to do their miniseries than their shows on Blu until the market grows bigger. Personally I will be SHOCKED if my personal favorite, From the Earth to the Moon doesn't ship for the 40th anniversary of the moon landing next year. Stuff like a complete Deadwood or Sorpanos is definately a down the line item.

The bottom line is that TV shows are expensive to produce on Blu-ray, and they can't sell enough/charge enough to make it worthwhile except on the very top tier like Lost. TV on Blu will really take off when they can get the SRP down in the $69.99 range for your standard season. Personally I think the stunted seasons from last year hit hard, because the prices were too high in general for what you got (9 -13 episodes). It would have been a good opportunity to move people up had the studios taken a bit of a dive on it like Warner did

I imagine ROME may come out eventually, but the fanbase for it is small but loud, so I doubt it's on their priority list unless it sold a lot better for the BBC

HBO needs new management. They cancel EVERY good series and leave the fans out high and dry.

Carnivale and Deadwood are about as good as any series I have ever seen and its really a shame that they wont get any sort of conclusion.

Didn't some behind the scenes issues with the producer scuttle the deadwood movie?

HBO is actually really good about letting shows live a lot longer than other networks as a whole

In regards to that, when do you think this might start to happen?
