Enchanted and Brother Bear were windowboxed in this manner.
I don't know if people really "got" this when the movie was first released. Doubtless there were many theatres that mis-framed the film based on it's opening AR and, since the DVD didn't replicate this look, I don't know how many people know this was supposed to be the case.

It would be nice, but I don't think it'll happen. What Michael said is basically the situation. I don't think they'll spend the money to seamless branch it either

Jeff, with this year being the 25th anniversary of Terminator AND the new movie coming this Summer, is there a good chance of a super-edition of The Terminator this year??

While we're on the topic of Terminator movies, any chance of a T2: Director's Cut release on Blu-ray in the U.S. in the near future?

Good to hear! I've been holding off on the current disc (even at the $10 wal-mart price) for just that possibility. Thanks.

Is there really anything they could do with the first one?

The first one on blu looks probably as good as its gonna look.

The only thing they could do at this point would be to go back and add updated digital effects and restore some of the deleted scenes.

Van Ling says that wont likely happen.

Also, a while back it was mentioned that Transformers was getting an extended cut. Any news on this? I expect it will be out before the new film, but I am curious how much new footage it will contain.

Honestly, Terminator looks about as good as it's getting, and it already has a PCM 5.1 track The movie's fine the way it is. It's unrealistic to expect it to look much better. Early 80s, shot for almost nothing and mostly at night. It's a miracle it looks as good as it does

The only thing they can do is add in the missing documentaries from the DVD

Nothing specific yet. At this point, getting that kind of information would probably require me burning some chits I don't want to. Someone posted up a list of scenes, it was awfully specific, so I'd guess that has a good chance of being accurate.

I'm sure at Wondercon or something they'll talk about it

I was watching Stephen King's The Stand and was wondering if we may see more King movies on Blu, and maybe the mini-series he has done. And also for how long The Stand is, could it be fitted on a 50gb disk or would it still have to be put on two discs?

Thanks,

Woodlandwolf

It would be a tight fit, but I don't see them doing it because it was shot on 16mm and the FX done on tape

Though they've been rumored, all seems to be quiet about the releases of BEN-HUR and THE THE COMMANDMENTS. Given that i'd expect a release for Easter, i'm suprised there's been no announcements.

Are those titles still coming?

Jeff,

Is there any chance the full Grindhouse experience will be released on Blu-ray instead of just the two movies individually which are missing the other movie trailers, etc.?

Full Grindhouse will depend a lot on how well the singles sell

April titles have just started, nothing until closer to February if those titles were to be announced for Easter

Jeff,

I realise it's a year off, but as Fantasia (&2K) are due next year, do you know what Disney is planning to do about the audio on Fantasia?

I know the current dvd is a marvel given the limitations of the surviving audio sources, but i'm sure any kind of lossless track is gonna show up the flaws even more, might they give us the 1982 re-recording as an alternate track or even re-record it again as they're are supposedly numerous issues with that (apart from it not being Stokowski!)

Thanks

M

Speaking of Brother Bear, what are the chances that Disney will release any of their non-platinum animated titles? I'm also thinking of Tarzan. Thanks.
