I don't know anything about Hammer films.

Anyone know what is going on with a U.S. release of Fight Club? I hate to ask about a specific title with the vagaries of the business but I thought I would give it a chance. You would think 20th Century Fox would have prepared a Blu-ray to coincide with the success of the theatrical release of another movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, by the same lead actor and director,
And who says they might not tie it in with the Blu-ray release?

Digital Bits Team:

I was wondering if you were aware of any word on some of the remaining Tim Burton films not yet released to Blu-Ray

Peewee's Big Adventure
Ed Wood
Mars Attacks
etc.

it's been done in Asia, MGM launches many of their titles overseas first

I imagine it'll come sooner rather than later

1) Is it going to get a BD release, and
2) Was it because of the box office?

Seems these days we wait more and more for movies to come via DVD and BD than we go to see them at the theater, and I'm guessing there are lots of families that do the same. Went to see Ink Heart last night, and even with a coupon it still came out to be $20 for the three of us.

Anyway, I'm getting off track. I appreciate anything you guys can dig up, though I have a feeling that the answer is, "not much".
Jeff- quoting my own post here, since it may have gotten buried. Any word on City of Ember getting a BD release?

COE is only being distributed by Fox, Playtone and Walden would make those choices

They're probably waiting to see what kind of awards it wins before committing to Blu. This is how it's going to be for indy/art films for another year or so until the market grows big enough to justify the expense

Jeff-

Are there any rumblings on an US release of La Vie en Rose? I know it's avaible through Amazon UK & CA, but neither were perfect releases according to the reviews I've read. Thanks!

Digital Bits Team:

I was wondering if there was any update on Stardust on Blu-ray?

I know that it was originally rumored for December, but then got moved to Quarter 1 2009. It has been mentioned in the list of titles that Paramount claims to be doing their $10 back promotion for those that also purchased the DVD.
I just wanted to double check if there was any more info on this since it is almost February and I haven't heard or seen anything about this since mid December.

La vie en Rose was renamed in the states to La Mome, so it took me a while to find it

Since HBO owns it, and it's got a very small audience, I'd say unlikely at this time.

Stardust sooner rather than later. I want it too

Jeff I'm very happy that Disney is releasing Lost seasons 1 and 2 and I hope it does well so that more studios release catalog tv shows on blu ray. Any word on when we should be expecting Lost?

Thanks for the reply. I was really surprised to see what I thought was a typical home release not get a BD simultaneous release.

Another vote for Stardust. Loved the movie and I'm also a big Gaiman fan. Looking forward to Coraline as well. Looked really impressive in the trailer we saw at the new theater.

Much sooner than Christmas

While there is more catalog TV coming, it's only on top top titles, and realistically it's not going to sell anything close to the new seasons.

I think the biggest reason it got bumped was because of JJ Trek

Jeff, now that Paramount has announced The Last Kiss for April any chances we see In the Land of Women and Garden State from the other studios to tie in with this release? Probably a long shot but would be nice.

Mean girls is coming to bluray.

Cant say I saw that coming, but damn if it doesnt make me happy.

It seems like announcements are a little slow as of late. I hope there are some more (and I mean MUCH more) exciting titles coming between now and April.

But, Ill be damned if I didnt tell everyone how happy I was that Mean Girls is coming to blu.
