Personally, I'll be very satisfied if they only include the entire contents of the Quadrilogy, preferably with some of the documentary features in hi-def. I don't really need any additional features.

That being said, for Alien, it would be cool if they'd include the exclusive features from the original "Alien Legacy" release. Then I could finally get rid of that DVD.

Jeff, thanks for all the info on akira - it sounds like an awful lot of work has gone into this re-release. Please pass on our gratitude to the people who have gone to all that trouble. Is it going to be the same specs for us in the UK or not??
You're welcome, I don't know how the rights on the movie work in Europe, I believe they lie with Manga UK, so it's up to them. I would personally say that they'd be fools not to pony up for this

That would be "any"

Supposedly he's mellowed on the subject, but that may have changed

I cant think of really anything to add to Alien. They got it perfect the first time.

Additional stuff I would like to see for Aliens are:
The famous cocooned Burke scene.
Some other deleted scenes that never made it onto the disc.
Sigourney Weaver audio commentary

Alien 3:
More David Fincher participation

Alien Resurrection:
Fine the way it is

Charles de Lauzirika has, unfortunately, gone on record saying that the what I want for Aliens and Alien 3 will likely never happen, per request of Cameron and Fincher.

If FOX does anything like they did for the Planet of the Apes boxset then the Alien Quadrilogy then it will be good.

Just give us some exclusives as well as some good PiP features and I will be set. Either way I will get the box set.

What potential is there for older TV shows not shot on film making it to Blu-ray. Im hoping to get Star Trek TNG on Blu-ray at some point in the future.

Do you ever think this will happen.

And other older TV shows as well making an appearance.

Ive read many times that if theyre going to release any, they are going to release all.

But Aliens is an obvious choice to tie in with Avatar

TNG was shot on film, just not mastered on it

TNG Remastered has been proposed, but it's iffy whether or not it'll happen. With the show returning to broadcast syndication next fall in unremastered form, I'm having my doubts it's going to happen, especially with the current economic climate. You're talking about a 5-6 year $150+ million project

It's possible that it's returning to broadcast to test if there is enough demand to warrant such a restoration.

I think it would be a tragedy if shows like this never found some way to make on to Blu-ray.

Hey Jeff,

Off the wall question, but it is about Michael Bay...

Is there ANY chance we could see the Pearl Harbor Vista Series DVD set ported over to bluray? To this day that is one of the absolute best dvd special editions ever created and it deserves to be seen on bluray.

Not only that, the Directors cut of Pearl Harbor was quite a bit better than the original if not historically accurate.

I heard that Paramount has cancelled plans for a Directors Cut of Transformers. Is this true?

You now reminded me.

I think its too son personally. Many people JUST bought the current bluray version and might feel let down if they release a new version so soon.

and what was going to be added? If it was only going to be a few minutes then that really isn't worth a second go around other than to milk the release.

Doesn't seem to bother Disney with regards to No Country for Old Men.

Hey, if you can tell us about Terminator, why not some of the others?...

Lowry has had a lot of press for a few years now but I wonder if their work is unanimously cheered by everyone. We're given the impression they're achieving works of genius but I'd assume someone somewhere doesn't agree with some of their work. Any director who wouldn't send his work there and will not do so again? (Spielberg?)

Robert Harris said in his thread he thought the James Bond restorations "looked clean", but that could lead to different conclusions.

Since seeing some of the James Bond BDs and reading about their good grain/bad grain theory, I've always been curious to get some objective thoughts on their subject. I'm quite fascinated by film restoration in general and would have appreciated comments from someone in the industry.

Because Van Ling, who has worked on most of James Cameron's DVDs said it first on HTF
