My memory of DVD release frequency 10 years back is pretty hazy. I really couldn't say. It's probably a bit slower due to the extra work involved but about the same.

HI Bill & Jeff.............

I noticed multiple sites stating that the OLD commentaries for Treks 2 & 6 are included on the new Blu-rays......

But the old commentaries specifically refer to the many changes in the extended movies.
So how will they do this? Are they editing down the commentarires to exclude some of the commentary track?

Would that they were actually including both versions vis branching as they are doing for the original series episodes.

Thanks if you can answer this!!

I would assume the commentaries have been edited to remove specific references to new scenes

Hey Jeff/Bill,

I saw on your site today that you confirmed that the alien films will be coming out this year (yeahhhhhh). You also said that it will be a ported version of the quadrilogy box set. Do you think the master will be good enough for Blu Ray?

To my knowlege, Fox would have done them all again anyway. When it's a "port of the quadirilogy" it refers to the bonus material/format

The Planet of the Apes set was a "port" and a terrific one so I would gladly have the same for the Alien Quadrilogy.

I just hope that Fox abandons the rubber hubs I'd love to see them design a way to slot thinpacks into the book itself (assuming there's a book at all).

I hear you brother it is almost impossible to put the BD movies into those rubber hubs.

One of the things I've suggested for those print-on-demand DVD stations they're going to be setting up is the ability to buy just the cover art, to replace damaged ones, or for those who don't like the box set for whatever reason. No additional work and just money

No guarantees it'll be LISTENED to, but I tried

Jeff..any idea if WB will rerelease Casablanca in a standalone Blu-ray edition? I've been holding off from buying the Ultimate Collector's set since I really have no desire for all the extras and price tag (even though it looks like a really nice set).

Thanks!

With T2 slated when can we expect T1

The Blu-ray more than any other that needs an extensive remaster.

How many times does this need to be posted?

The Terminator was an extremely low budget thriller. The Blu-ray probably looks better than most theaters it was shown in. It will never look clean, or slick unless it's remade.

It looks no better than the DVD almost.

And if the Texas Chainsaw Massacre can look as good as it does. Then im sure Terminator has something to give to.

Apples and oranges.

You can't compare movies simply based on vintage and budget. You have to take into account what is being shot, where it's being shot, what equipment was used and everything else. Terminator was shot often handheld, almost always at night, often literally off the back of a truck or a motorcycle and on exterior uncontrolled urban locations. Texas Chainsaw is an extremly different animal. Rural locations are almost as good as a soundstage if you don't take weather into account.

It looks far superior to the DVD, it's just not going to jump out and bite you.

Lowry is currently working on it, but no one expects there to be a lot of gains for it. For one thing there are too many low budget makeup and optical fx (like rear projection in the future scenes) that need things like grain to survive.
