Ew. I would definitely buy that. However, the concept of an evil VHS tape loses its bite a little when hardly anyone bothers to play the format anymore.

Quick! Call George Lucas and ILM to replace all instance of the tape with a BD.

Or better, an evil HD DVD. Attack of the zombie format!

Hi Jeff, Bill mentioned the Warner catch up titles coming soon. Do you think Smallville 5 will be part of it since it was released on HD DVD?

Also very happy to see Lost 1 and 2 announced for June, so you won't have to worry about me badgering about it anymore.

No, I don't think Smallville Season 5 will come out this year, They're focusing on stuff that hasn't been out on highdef before and movie titles. It'll just have to wait for another promotion

Since it is that time of year, maybe it is a good time to ask: I own the DVD of "Jesus of Nazareth", and wonder if anyone knows if the film exists in a form that would make a successful appearance on Blu?

I own the DVD, which sports a 4:3, somewhat blurred picture. A widescreen, remastered Blu-ray presentation would be, uh, miraculous!

Any word on any development of this miniseries for Blu?

Thanks

Jeff, do you think Crank will see a re-release when Crank 2 is released?

Jesus of Nazareth- It would come out at Easter, I wouldn't count on it on Blu-ray anytime soon
Doolittle- If they werent' announced together, no
Crank- Probably not, but there may be a moviecash offer or something. Either way the sequel looks hilarious

Jeff, Grudge was delayed to coincide with Grudge 3's release. I'm wondering Why Grudge 3 is dvd only, being a new release and all?

Jeff, with the United Kingdom and Japan getting releases of Equilbrium, is a US release close?

Also

With the United Kingdom and Japan getting release dates for Che, is IFC planning a US release soon?

What happens in the UK and Japan is completely different. Disney controls Equilibrium here through Dimension (new Dimension productions are Weinstein just for the record). A UK label owns it there, and hilariously, Sony now controls it in Japan when Toshiba had it before and released it on HD DVD. (Toshiba had a film division until a year or so ago)

I couldn't tell you on Che. Independant films like that have different masters in different areas, and the money behind them is wildly different. For example, Son of Rambow is out in the UK on Blu, but Paramount decided that there wasn't a big enough market here. Death at a Funeral, same thing with MGM, where the movie is out in Australia and Germany on Blu, but not here or the UK.

Grudge 3, I would guess that it's a less than stellar sequel they don't have a lot of confidence in, I don't know. Sony's been leaving off the Blu for a lot of their direct to video stuff. I'm suprised that Screamers didn't come out with the suprisingly un-terrible DTV sequel "The Hunting", but neither one hit Blu-ray.

Whats up with An American Werewolf In London release? My guess that Universal going to wait until August to put it out for its anniversary.

Jeff, can you tell us if Universal is going to announce some releases anytime soon? All the other studios seem to be announcing titles left and right and as of right now Universal only has 3 titles scheduled for April, two day and date (one of which was bumped from the end of March), and a catalog title delayed from last November. They have a lot of HDDVD titles to get releasing plus all their catalog that never hit HDDVD. What's the hold up?

Uni likes to play things closer to the vest than most. They've got more stuff on the way, it's just uncertain as to what is going to hit when

Hopefully UNIVERSAL is remastering some of their less than stellar HD DVD releases such as FIELD OF DREAMS and SPARTACUS.

Is Stardust still on Paramounts radar? It's been tossed around for a while including on inserts, but still no announcement. Am I gonna have to wait for Christmas?
