Raccoons also carry fleas as do other wildlife. Some one didn't
get to old age in New Mexico. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2009/06/...1101244221759/ Hopefully, the readers of Bill's column are smarter. But I'd remove the story. Leave "softy" stories to Disney. |

I really enjoyed Bill's raccoon story.
I live in an a somewhat rural area in the Bay Area and I had a "wildlife" event a few weeks ago. I was hiking through the woods and stumbled upon a fawn trapped between the bars of an iron fence. Somehow the fawn was able to squeeze its head and the front part of it's body though the iron bars that are spaced about 4 inches apart. However it could not squeeze it's hind section through the narrow bars. The mother was 50 feet away and both deer were in a very aggitated state. So I walked to the back of the fence and grabbed the fawn's real legs trying to force the rest of the fawn's body through the fence. That was not happening and the more I touched the fawn the worse the situation grew. Finally I used my arms and legs and pushed and pulled as hard as I could to try to force the area trapping the fawn to open up. That did the trick and the fawn took off like a rocketship never looking back. That was some walk... Last edited by coolmilo; 06-07-2009 at 02:07 AM. |

We have lots of raccoons and other critters here in SW Oklahoma (coyotes, bobcats, possums, skunks, armadillos and even an occasional mountain lion). I haven't seen any mother raccoons with a litter of kits in my backyard. However, I have seen male raccoons fight with each other next to my house. I'm not totally out in the sticks either.
The first time a raccoon fight happened at my house I was working in my computer room about 10pm when a ruckus started up outside the east window. The noise sounded a bit like a cat fight but not quite. I walked out the front door and looked into the space between my house and the next door neighbor's home. It was pitch black. Couldn't see anything. But then I heard a really nasty growl. That ain't a cat! So I went back inside to grab a flashlight. The commotion had moved up into the trees next to my backyard. I went out back and shined the light up into the trees to find two pretty big raccoons, one chasing the other. |

I quote - “We've got coyotes and s--t around these parts”.
![]() Bill, I am very sensitive to any derogatory associations with coyotes, so a little payback may be in order. ![]() You say in the first paragraph (http://thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents) that you will be reviewing the Blu-ray of John Adams and it looks “fantastic”. Well, I only saw it on the tellie and haven’t viewed the Blu-ray but, if anything, the Blu-ray edition will just reinforce my opinion…….my eyes were bleeding, BLEEDING I tell you from the ………… Hint - There is more xxx in that series than the population of the Netherlands. Sleep well Bill ![]() https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2659 |

There is a certain level of "wild" in suburban and semi-rural areas. Then there is another level of "wild" where you don't do silly things like leaving dogs and cats outdoors.
My parents live NE of Colorado Springs next to the Black Forest. In that area, I don't care if you have the biggest, baddest pit bull or rottweiler that ever lived. You leave it outside and there's a good chance it will be turned into a meal for a pack of wolves, a mountain lion on patrol or even a bear. Thankfully mountain lions are pretty rare in Oklahoma. Large dogs can hold their own against any coyote or bobcat. Well, there are wild feral "razorback" pigs about. Those things can be downright dangerous. BTW, HBO's John Adams series was excellent. I still have the whole thing recorded on my HD DVR. |

Someone mentioned in another thread that Jeff Kleist had mentioned Blade Trilogy was a year or more away.
I am surprised that this one is not higher on Warners/New Line list since it hits at the heart of the early adopter demographic for Blu-Ray (Vampires that like new tech. of course ![]() I can think that maybe the delay is because its an older and darker film and the restoration process is more difficult. Or maybe there is a planned Blade 4th movie in the talks and maybe they want to want and cross promote. I have not heard anything about a new Blade movie. Also any rumor on Dreamcatcher or The Core for Blu in the future? |
