Hey, guys - I noticed Sony still owns the home video rights for Tae Guk Gi in the United States. I'm not one for importing, so what do you think the chances are of that fantastic film making its way into a domestic blu-ray release in the near future?

![]() So, I guess the idea of masses of happy, enthusiastic fans, an excited new audience and stacks of cash doesn't really interest them...? And I let myself get excited, with Peter Morgan on-board. -sigh- At least we'll always have the two killer Craigs. ![]() |

That does bring up an interesting question:
If a BD50 is a dual-layer Blu-ray disc, have there been any three-layer (BD75?) Blu-ray disc releases? Is there any release, real or potential, with a reason for using one? I believe Sony experimented with producing Blu-ray discs with more than two layers, but that may have only amounted to proof-of-concept runs. BTW, while I am at it: What is the cost difference between a two-layer DVD and a two-sided single-layer DVD? I'm asking because I've seen both, with moans about the latter. Daniel Craig has even said he'd like to do something more traditional. He's signed for one more, unknown if he'll stay on, but I don't see a reason to replace him. Dye his hair and make him wear contacts yes ![]() Quote:

That said, James Bond shouldn't be Borune anyway. Casino Royale was great, but I think that had more to do with Martin Campbell than anything else. He is an astonishing underrated action director. James Bond however should never include Die Another Day in its quality barometer. What a POS that movie was. Right from the terrible Maddona track on, my wife and I knew we're in for a more torturous time than Bond would have in the North Korean prison camp. Goldeneye should be the gold standard for 'current' Bond. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli should just had directorial duties over to Martin Campbell forever. ![]() |

Well, anecdotal and all, but I've talked to at least a dozen fans (and I've talked to myself, as well) and all were peachy-pleased.

![]() I know I am in the minority in thinking QoS can hang with CR, as opposed to just being 'okay', but really in overall 'tone' terms, everyone in my sphere speaks glowingly of the CR/QoS direction. And I happen to know a number of people who claim to have "given up" on Bond prior to the Craigs and who are now totally on-board. Oh, well. I guess I'll take it as it comes, as ever. I sure hope not- a little late for that, I would think. |

This doesn't strike me as true. EON and the Broccoli family have always been in control of the Bond films, whether Sony helped distributed them or not. Re-introducing more traditional Bond elements has more to do with the story in the first two reboot films having bottled his origin and now being established enough (in their view) to move on a bit, possibly with Q and Moneypenny, but certainly with Quantum as the modern SPECTRE, and Bond in full "sober calculating agent" mode, complete with womanizing (he won't anyone get close again) and surface-level detachment/snark.

I thought Casino Royale was one of the best 007 films ever, while Quantum of Solace was merely good. Ideally, I’d like the next film to be more like CR with more classic elements added in. The Bourne-style ShakyCam of QoS was okay for one film, but I’d like to see the franchise move back more towards the classic films now that Bond’s origin has been established.

Just because DAD made the most money doesn't mean the people liked it more! DAD is the only Bond movie I've seen in theaters, but it was because I had free tickets from Circuit City, and I never owned it at home until the Blu-ray came out and I got it for $9.99 at Target. ~Alan |
