Yes, if only because they're not shoving 3 hour movies into 20GB like last time

I don't expect them to add much for the extended cuts tho, 7 and 13min respectively. I am hoping for Nearly Headless Nick's birthday, which was shot however. Supposedly Azkazban had about 45min cut, and I'd love to see the majority of that restored. All of these potter movies after 2 have for the most part been a half hour too short.

[30 DAYS] wasn't cancelled, but they haven't ordered any new episodes,so it's essentially cancelled.
Thx. I'll assume no comment re my other query means you are speculating/there's been no explicit word either way. Morgan has a relationship with Virgil principal Joe Amodei (Hart Sharp released the Super Size Me DVD), so here's hoping that we'll see season three on at least DVD eventually. It was a while before they did season two, too.

I'll check their site for an e-mail address, send a note and report back in case any one else is interested.

a few people have asked about the batman films and matrix films being available separately - they are in the uk/ireland and region free and quite cheap to.. so importing may be an option

Jeff,

I hear you brother! The last couple of films have been Cliff's Notes versions of the books. The spirit of the books is in the movies, but definitely not the heart and soul.

Personally, I thought the leaner, pacier approach of Azkaban's cut was a big part of what made it a better movie than its predecessors.

Regarding Potter: is it known if any of the extended edition scenes will go beyond just adding in the deleted scenes from the existing DVD/BD extras?

Yeah, saw it a week or whatever ago

I don't remember if this is the same guy who was pulling hard for HD DVD that sparred with Bill on Attack of the Show a few times, but I never go the impression he knew what he was talking about on a baseline

Well, either way, with a few notable exceptions most of the truely passionate knowlegable people are gone from IGN and CNet. Gamespot lost the rest of the crew they were already losing when they canned Gerstmann (now all at GiantBomb), and IGN had chased out most of the good people long before that. The IGN DVD position is a pretty cruddy and lonely one, sees a lot of turnover and very little support as it's mostly there, like the cars and all the other stuff to keep the gaming people around the central hub

Least that's my personal impression

Jeremy obviously returned to the future where they certainly are "now"

The best person at IGN was Jeremy Conrad who left after like 2002. He wrote some of the best DVD reviews I ever read and always looked forward to his insight. After that IGN was never quite the same and never seemed to get much in the way of exclusives. I still check in there from time to time, but mainly for gaming because they often get a lot of early game reviews.

I do find their review of Halo 3: ODST getting a 9 a little suspect. I read the review and it sounded like it 7-8 score game at best.

NO, he was NOT the Jeremy who debated Bill on the aforementioned show.

Well, maybe I'll see the real Starbuck in HD chompin on his cigar and blowing Cylons out of space with that awesome Kirk-like swagger one of these days

Jeff Richard Hatch once said Moores version of BSG could have worked as a continuation. Are your issues with the show purely based on the fact that it was a complete reimagining or would the show not have worked for you even it was a continuation?

There is no possible way it could have worked as a continuation. The two shows have virtually nothing in common in continuity, stylistically, philosophically, and in at least one case genetalially.

There is no such thing as a re-imagining, it's simply a license to pillage creatively somoene else's proper nouns that they give a feel-good title to make them think the're doing something creative, and a distraction euphamism for a slash and burn operation. You know like the "Clear Skies" bill actually allowed for more pollution?

I've known Richard casually for many years, and he's a great guy, but I parse from that as more trying to fit in with his new family, if that's indeed what he said, while not pissing off the old too much.

here's the quote:

"I loved the intelligent, down to earth, darker approach that Ron Moore was bringing to the new series. But I would have loved to have done that with the original series, and not lost the chemistry and the humor and all things that the original series had. But I must say, for me, I mean knowing the new actors as I do, and the writers and the producers, you could have used eighty percent, ninety percent of all those people on a continuation. Edward Olmos could have been the commander even though he wasn't Adama. You could have still had Mary McDonnell as the President. Jamie Bamber could have been my son. Starbuck could be Starbuck's daughter. You could have had a continuation very easily but, the point is, that wasn't done. "

I wouldn't argue with most of that statement. I admire Olmos a great deal, especially when he said that if he'd known the original still had a following he never would have taken the job (and was not allowed at the public events for 2-3 years after that). See the way you put it he was implying that the show could be rejiggered, and that doesn't jive at all

Oh I see what you thought like rejiggered after the fact? Basically what I was getting at was if you took away the pronouns you mentioned would you have liked the show? I was trying to see if the issues you had with the show were only because of the disrespect shown to the original series or would the overall story not have drawn you regardless of the branding used?

The show was mediocre taken as a standalone program. It's like Heroes has gotten, meandering trying to go off in 5 directions at once and changing those directions at right angles, violating the rules that it had previously set in stone just a few episodes earlier (we follow military procedure! coup and ignoring the president when we deem it right is in there somewhere.....) treading water desperitely looking for somewhere to go, and using sex as a crutch to fill the lack of coherence(which heroes doesn't)

At least Heroes is merely derivative and stands on its own. I just hope tonight's episode doesn't suck and it goes back to being good again.

Anyway, I'm not going to get off on a tangent here. If you want to follow up I'll keep it open until 3PM Eastern tomorrow, after that back on track
