Have you heard anything about a new release date for Pulp Fiction? I am really hoping that they release it with Inglourious Basterds later this year.

If I was a betting man, I would say that is a good guess for a new release date. Unless they found something wrong with the disc and have to go back and work out the issues.

How good was Inglourious Basterds (or however u spell it?)? It looks like it could be pretty awesome.

eff, do you know if this Gremlins BD that was just released is the pristine transfer that Joe Dante personally oversaw, or if its the original remaster that he wasn't satisfied with?
I would hope the former, but I don't know anyone who's gotten a look at it yet. Store exclusives tend not to be sent out until they are no longer exclusive.

I'm not even going to speculate on Pulp Fiction anymore. It's on, it's off, it's here, it's there. Though I have heard something about a 15th anniversary, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Inglorious Basterds needed more Brad Pitt. It was kind of suprising, definately his best film after Kill BIll, but I think he likes to hear the sound of his own voice too much, the usual wasting time with idle conversation (nothing can be worse than the first 2 reels of Death Proof though, god that was boring).
The performances were fantastic however.

I did get a tickel today that will make Ghibli fans happy if it, hopefully it'll be public in a few weeks

I really liked Inglourious Basterds. Not as good as Pulp Fiction but it is up there with Kill Bill and Resorvoir Dogs, which I really liked but nevertheless were on a level below Pulp Fiction.

Jeff is right though it would have been even better with more screen time for Brad Pitt and the Basterds!

You spelled both words incorrectly, and therefore, correctly.

I liked it a lot.

Jeff does Image Entertainment still own the rights to twilight Zone 1959 series? I was hoping we'd see a release since this year is the 50th anniversary but I doubt we will get anything this late in the year.

I'd like to own the original Twilight Zone on Blu-ray as well. The DVDs looked excellent so I assume the film materials are still in good shape.

I'm not sure how much/what is public domain. I think CBS might own the best materials for it, but I can't say for sure

Hey Jeff, this is just out of curiousity
What was wrong with the original release of The Fifth Element that prompted a remaster?

There's comparison shots floating around, but in a nutshell it was an old master that was fuzzy. It wasn't scanned but telecine'd and a bit dull looking, and provided ammo for the red ants to go ballistic about how Blu was inherently awful

Don Ecklund and his crew went back and made them eat their words, without ketchup

ketchup...
So you're saying the format war was the primary reason for the remaster?
I had nothing to do with consumer out-cry?
This is cool to know...
Thanks

As quickly as it did? Probably a good factor, but not the deciding one

You have to understand, Blu-ray was rushed to market about 6 months before it would have otherwise been because HD DVD slapped together a player out of a laptop and tossed it out there about 5 months before their previous planned launch. So all of asudden getting together a slate of launch titles was critical in a hurry, If I signed off on doing a disc from scratch today, you wouldn't see it till the spring.

When you rush things slip through. The important part is that they made it right

HD-DVD jokes never get old when they are subtle.

I'm glad they did.
I'll be ordering this in the near future, haven't seen this in a long time.
I love the ridiculous humour in the sci-fi setting.
Thanks again, I wasn't around in the legendary mythic-like format war

Default Billy Jack

Hi Jeff --

Wanted to ask if have info that the catalog title Billy Jack from Image actually made it into stores this week. A source at Image said to me the title was delayed again until January yet my pre-order from Amazon was filled and shipped apparently. It arrives tomorrow so we will see.

Just wondering.

Thank you for all your hard work here in the forum -- it is invaluable!
