Default Snow White Shorts in HD?

Hi Jeff,

is it correct that the short films included in the Snow White BD are only upconverted from NTSC?

Are you talking about the Silly Symphonies? I'd have to look again. Due to the wonders of living on the east coast and UPS ground shipping, I got the disc about 5 days after everyone else, so things I'd seen before I just spot checked. (honestly, the same money the post office has it here in two days! )

I'm a little busy for the next week or so on Two projects that have a hard deadline of first week of November and a huge learning curve on new software. All I'm going to see are the Four walls of my Prison while I hammer at the problem, and hope I don't go so crazy I start Breaking things

With Halloween around the corner, I am surprised we have not seen more BD announcements on horror genre titles.

Where is "Feast" or "Slithers", I believe one of these was even released in HD so it should not be that hard to get it over to BD.

Anything coming that we have not yet heard announced?

And what the heck ever happened to "From Dusk Til Dawn"?

I've only looked at The Old Mill so far and wasn't impressed at all. It looks just like the SS dvd. No work has been done on it.

October makes me think of horror movie double dips. Is there any chance of the 79 Dawn of the Dead box getting a blu version? (What hurdles are there for getting the european version in a picture quality equal to the US theatrical?) thanks

Disney has announced that Touchstone's 10 Things I Hate About You: 10th Anniversary Edition will be released to DVD ($19.99 SRP) and Blu-ray ($39.99 SRP) on January 5, 2010. (Because getting it out this December would have been rendered the milestone accurate.)
Both versions will include an all-new making-of documentary with deleted scenes, bloopers, interviews, and Heath Ledger's screen test. An audio commentary and digital copy will also be included on both formats. The release marks the first time on Blu-ray and 16:9-enhanced DVD for the Shakespeare-inspired 1999 high school comedy that recently spawned an ABC Family show. Click here for cover art.

Christmas announcements are held till later so they don't get forgotten about

Good the Bad and the Ugly is out now. While a few more bonds may make it out by the end of the year, all the "good" Bonds will probably be held for closer to Bond 23. Don't forget that production rights to the franchise have returned to MGM now, and that they're supposedly "unfixing" a lot of the last 2 and returning it to something closer to its roots (more gentleman spy, gadgets, quips. Leave depression to Bourne)
Is the recent MGM news also coming to play on this decision?
We know that an SE of Quantum of Solace is on the way, but again are the rest of the Bond films including the SE of Quantum of Solace being delayed from release until Bond 23?

I saw The Good The Bad and The Ugly has been released, why isn't MGM releasing the other 2 or a box set as they did before?

Quick note... Just saw this announcement... The Costo exclusive set will now be in stores for the holidays.. Too bad we already have all of these....

Unfixing? Saddest news I've heard yet.

Thankfully, with the grosses of the Craig Bonds being what they are, and EON being a basically independent production company, they can listen politely to the MGM suits' idea of roots (let me guess, Roger Moore? I bet none of them ever as much as picked up an Ian Fleming novel), and proceed to do exactly what they have been doing.

The Craig series should stay on its amazing course for the duration of its run. Sure, they can fix little things like the editing approach (which somewhat hurt QoS), but going down the way of silly stuff is best left for the next incarnation of the series.

Dear MGM: You have plenty of really broken things that need fixing. Let Craig's Bond remain who he is.

About "Snow White", and whether the included shorts are real HD or not, I've just read this in DVD Savant. I don't know if these are the ones you're talking about, or if indeed they're easter eggs:

"Reader Mark has told me that the new Snow White Blu-ray has some hidden extras I didn't find: HD transfers of antecedent Disney Cartoons, some in Technicolor. To reach them, do this:

1. When the Disc 2 menu comes up, select Bonus Features.
2. Select Backstage Disney.
3. Select Hyperion Studios.
4. When the Hyperion documentary starts playing, press the Next Chapter button on your remote (>>|).
5. You'll come to a photo of the studio with a menu bar at the bottom. This is probably as far as you got before and wound up going in circles by pressing the left or right arrow. What they don't make clear is that you have to press the DOWN arrow to get to the Index option. Select that.
6. The Hyperion Studio Index will come up. Use the down arrow to see the submenus under each of the topics. For example, "Steamboat Willie" can be found if you move the down arrow to Sound Stage; "Flowers and Trees" is under Ink and Paint, etc.

My copy hasn't arrived yet, but it sounds great that there are at least some classic shorts in HD included.

Jeff may be able to tell you on "Slither" (which I owned on HD DVD), but I can answer your question regarding "Feast".

"Feast" is a Weinstein title.

It was released on HD DVD as well...

Brutal Legend for sure, how soon I dunno. There's about 5 games over the next 5 weeks I want. BL, Fallout 3 to play all the DLC packs, Modern Warfare, the GTA DLC doublepack, Asassin's Creed 2, and somewhere in there I need Lego Rock Band too

*sigh*

But next year they're learning their lesson about Christmas stuffing right?

With all this talk of PB, I have to ask:

With "Prison Break: The Videogame" supposedly coming out in February, would Fox be planning to release at least ONE of the missing seasons to tie in with the video game?

I'm SO glad I'm not that big into games.

I'll DEFINITELY be getting "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" this week (I'm up to 16 on the online demo)... and if Toys-R-Us has any decent games left by the time I get there, I'll try and pick up two more... but aside from U2:AT, I'm good for the rest of the year.

Well, Mario might be good, but I'm not in any hurry...

I had to give up gaming nearly 10 years ago to save my marriage. I was addicted to Age of Empires I and II. Hell, I was lucky I wasn't fired from my job because I would stay up all night playing and sleep walk through the next day in order to play again after work!

Yeah. Its too bad they delayed the titles I was most looking forward to: Bioshock 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. Although they both got rescheduled for February so thatll be fine.
