Valencia should be good. Championship will likely be decided. The 4 aliens will go WFO to leave their mark on 2009 and get into the heads of the opposition., plus, Spies in the mix.

Why the hell do people even bother posting stories about a bluray drive being the in the 360? MS has denied it repeatedly and none of the rumors ever end up coming to fruition
Because it is coming. MS has had it for years. They haven't had their software certified, and there were some driver issues, but it's been sitting on a shelf 95% finished for a long time now. The physical drive was simply a matter of changing out the laser on the HD DVD drive.

Are those of us hoping for Disney's The Three Musketeers and for that matter other Musketeer films going to have to wait until this 3D T3M film comes out?
Which 3 Musketeers? Michael York or Charlie Sheen?

There are many IP holders in Bluray. Sony is one of many. I believe Panasonic holds more IP in Bluray than anyone....
MS of course has VC-1 in Blu-ray as well. Legally the only real reason to hold back a license would be if Toshiba had massive security leaks in their past, and they don't.

Actually both. I was thinking of the Charlie Sheen version since I just realized that my DVD is missing, but I want both versions on BD whenever I can get them.

Thanks,

Chris

All the Anchor Bay properties are in the process of finding new homes for the most part unfortunately so 3/4 musketeers is in limbo. Charlie sheen 3D movie probably yeah

Anchor Bay is moving away from cult/niche to more family fare under Starz. There's virtually no one left there from the good old days now, and the offices have been moved from Michigan to next to the Burbank Airport

What does that mean for how long we will have to wait for some of their cult/horror classics on BD? Like The Evil Dead, Re-Animator, Demons, Halloween 4/5, and their remaining Argento titles for example.

I would not count on anything coming from Anchor Bay as far as catalog goes, and be pleasently suprised if it shows

Thanks, Jeff, but it a shame. Well, at least we have Blue Underground committed to Blu-ray.

Yeah, it will. It'll be nice to see Vale really have to work there.

I had a nice conversation with Spies back in '99 or 2000. Couldn't meet a nicer guy. I'm still torn on Spies vs. Haga, which I guess is win/win.

So Jeff,

Its nice to see Snow White be the number one bluray for two weeks in a row. Did it actually post strong sales? enough so that Disney will consider releasing more platinum titles in the upcoming months?

Or was it a case of nothing really selling all that well?

I hope it has more of an impact for them releasing more hand drawn titles that are not in their Platinum/Diamond series. I highly doubt Disney will speed the 2 titles a year plan for Diamond.

Diamond is just the new version of Platinum. Platinum is over - now each previous Platinum title + the few new titles added to the line will get a Diamond release at the rate of two a year (possibly 3 for just 2010 because they're grouping the two Fantasias together).

Hopefully the titles at only the 'Special Edition' and below tier will start to come out so we can get more than 2 Disney class animation titles a year, but 2 per year is pretty locked in as far as the Diamond/Platinum-level titles are concerned.

Speaking of the Diamond series... It looks like Disney is going to delay the theatrical re-release of Beauty and the Beast (3D) from February 2010 to 2011 to capitalize on it's 20th Anniversary. I expect this means that B&tB will get bumped from the fall 2010 Diamond spot also.
What do you think might replace it?

So are the rights to catalog titles that have generally been their domain up for grabs, or is Anchor Bay just sitting on them until they lapse or they get an offer they like?

They're not renewing contracts. Like the Cannell stuff just went to Mill Creek

Bill Lustig took a large chunk of Anchor Bay's cult/horror library with him when he left to form Blue Underground. It is likely that he will make an effort to re-acquire the remaining Anchor Bay horror catalog if he has not done so already.
