They all appear to be from Icon Home Entertainment so Best Buy is selling the import versions. All of those 11/10 releases are listed on Amazon also.

Default Tyler Perry Take 2!

I asked about Madea Goes to Jail before, so now I'm going to ask about I can Do Bad All By Myself. This movie made tons of money. Very successful. Is Lions Gate going to pull a Madea again and not release a Blu-ray?

Yeah, I heard the excuse that "urban" movies don't sell on Blu. But asking Lion's Gate beforehand might actually get some action on a Blu-ray. Especially in light of inexpensive Blu-ray Players coming to market this Christmas.

Thanks.

It appears that the ones at Amazon are from private parties, not actually Amazon. I do not see anything about Icon on the Best Buy site. Am I missing something? Looks like a standard dated and priced preorder.

Studios have video plans in place long before a movie even comes out. Box office won't be a factor on Tyler Perry movies. It's a penetration issue with people actually willing to buy or rent the movies on Blu over the DVD

You'd be better off sending a snail mail letter to Mr. Perry's production company asking that they insist on a Blu-ray release for their films. Sorry I don't have any contact info for them.

It's possible that one of their suppliers did an automatic catalog injection for the import. They've had Hong Kong film imports in the past

The ones listed on Best Buy's site for a 11/10 release correspond to the same titles on Amazon (sold from them). Amazon has some additional info listed with their listings and that they are from Icon and are imports.

Just for an example, Hard Candy.

Ok gotcha. But could this happen at Best Buy as well?

I see the one for HC, but nothing for The Pianist...at Amazon anyway. I guess we'll know in a couple weeks.

Jeff,

Is the new Goodfellas digibook release going to contain a new video encode, or just the existing one?

Jeff,

Do you think Zombieland will get a release before end of year or is Sony going to hold on to it until Q1? I loved this movie and look forward to the release. I also hope they green light a sequal.

I saw an interview with the masterminds behind the movie and they said that there were other rules that were left out and would be in the next installment (if there was one).

Hello, Jeff.

I hear there's a big announcement on http://twinpeaksarchive.blogspot.com/ tonight. Is there any chance that this could be the inevitable Twin Peaks box set Blu-ray release date? Have you heard anything new on the subject?

Hey Jeff,

PLayed any new games lately? Uncharted 2 was an absolute blast. I was gonna start Brutal Legend, but Im gonna hold off for a little while. Ill start Ratchet and Clank this week Im sure.

Im gonna try and replay Assassins Creed again in the hope that I will like it better and if so get Assassins Creed 2.

I have this gut feeling that Modern Warfare 2 will end up being a slight letdown and/or that it will ridiculously short.

I initially thought it was tragic to see so many games being pushed back into next year (Splinter Cell, Bioshock2 and Singularity), but if everything worksout this holiday season is gonna be loaded as is.

picked up Fallout GOTY tonight actually. Target pricematch+giftcard=$15 purchase Now I can play the DLC and finish up a few quests I didn't do.

COD:MW2 and AC2 I'll be grabbing, playing the former until I get the latter, at which point I'll go full on stabby. Like a lot of games back in 2007ish, AC was a tech demo with a game attached to it. They spent 18 months on the engine and environment and 6 month on the actual game (or so it seems). AC2 appears to have addressed almost all the issues, and mind you that I enjoyed the heck out of AC1

I got the Queen pack for RB2, been dying for that since day 1, and the South Park game as well, which was a lot of fun

In between all that I'm playing Tales from Monkey Island

Jeff, is now a better time? The announcement was for a book.... I am slightly depressed by this.

Any word on a Blu-ray release of Stephen Frear's excellent "Cheri" with a superb and beautiful middle aged Michelle Pfeiffer?

Hmm... After all the recent statements about contacting Disney, I can't help but feel this is a total brush off. And I'm at a loss as to why.

The typical Bits response has always been "we'll check with Lions Gate and see," which is the sort of thing I was expecting. But this?

We are not the insiders here, you are, and we look to you for help. A tacit refusal, especially one that basically requires me to act as an insider, find a studio contact, make the call, write the letter? That's totally out of character for the Bits. Especially after the years and years of you guys doing such a great job finding out about releases, letting studios know what the people want, and basically being a major go-to supporter for both DVD and Blu-ray.
