Can anyone shed some light on this? As far as I knew, there wasn't a blu-ray release until the end of season 1. This comes from http://www.fox.com/glee/target/index2.htm? Thanks for checking guys.

I'll bet you a dollar that pot legalization will result in a massive upturn in 2001 sales right here this minute

Hi Jeff,

I am looking at Jan/Feb 2010 BD purchases and I noticed that the days of the deals are over. Was the price adjustment just for the holidays? I would hate for BD sales to lose momentum.

With pricing back up to $25 to $28 for new releases, I am planning to wait!

OK, here goes-

I've smoked pot maybe half-a-dozen times in my life (never liked it, it makes me fall asleep), and certainly NEVER smoked it while watching a movie. I have done "shrooms" once several years ago (not at all an unpleasant experience BTW), but again, not while watching a movie...

... and yet I love 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, which I have NEVER watched while under the influence under any such substances. I have NEVER watched it during those few times when I have been "stoned"...

So Jeffrey, why do you think I love the film, then?

When i watched True Lies at the cinema it had an intermission... it was at a strange point.... 2/3rds of the way into the film... people thought the movie was over! arnie had pretty much blown up everything and rescued everyone.. only to come back after the intermission to rescue his daughter..

btw.. any word of True Lies coming to Blu-Ray? pretty fun film...

The only modern film I've seen with an intermission at a non-arthouse was Gods and Generals

Big thanks to you and Bill!
I think the new extras might be enough to convince most casual fans to buy the new editions, but it's nice to know something beforehand about the A/V too.

My clearest memory of an intermission in theaters was with "JFK". I think it's not the only I experienced but I can't recall anymore.

I think that anyone who loves pot and 2001 would have the same access legal or illegal. I think it'd be more likely to see a rise in sales of more inane modern comedies.

The pot and "shrooms" already did their damage!

NOTE: I own "2001: A Space Odyssey" on Blu-ray (1 of four Kubrick films), but have yet to watch it, so I'm not siding with anybody... just wanted to mess with Vincent!

The Blu-ray has ome compression issues, mostly the result of trying to fit such a long movie into about 20GB so there was room for extras on the HD DVD. I expect any reissue will be a pretty good upgrade

Careful how you toss around words like "will", Jeff.

I'd sign up for 2001 spread across a BD-50 in a heartbeat, but I'm a bit skeptical that I'll ever have the opportunity... especially considering the likes of things like the upcoming Goodfellas re-issue.

By the way, can anyone explain the ending of 2001? I loved the movie but the ending confused me like no other movie. And no, I did not watch the movie while partaking in any legal or illegal substance activities (only popcorn). 2001 offers enough mental stimulation anyway.

That would be your problem

Read the book. It'll explain everything, and be far more satisfying to boot.

With Avatar probably hitting BD in mid 2010, I really hope True Lies shows up that day, in addition to The Abyss and that new restored version of Terminator.

Don't listen to Jeff. He's right that the book will "explain" everything, but that's precisely why it will be less satisfying.
