Do you REALLY have to bring that here? I just can't believe how much fighting there's been over which edition to get. So Jeff, anything exciting to report today?

Jeff, any news on the future sale of MGM and Miramax's library? I know a couple weeks ago, Summit was a possibility for Miramax's titles but I have no idea if that is still the case.

Any progress with getting the Warner boys to realize that Lossless audio is important to the content and for fans for EVERY release... television and non-theatrical stuff included?

They should have shot Tom Bombadil and just put it on there as a seperate bonus piece. Sure it brings the story to a screeching hault, but that's the part everyone wants to see and always has
could not agree more.

Who's "they"? From what it sounds it's P.J. himself not wanting the extendeds out yet.

LOL at brisk. I agree, but would probably use a stronger adjective.

Summit's out, Harvey got a bunch of billionaires together to back his bid and it looks like he'll win it. Then he'll attach himself at the hip to Universal is my guess.

What will that mean in real terms for us simple movie-buying folk??

Probably nothing. There will be a transition period as operations are transferred, and probably no "good" miramax titles until the end of the year at least

You've stumbled onto a pet peeve of mine...

EVERYBODY HAS DIFFERENT TASTES... and I'm going to have to skip multiple titles I want over the next few months... because I can't afford them all. Add in the occasional sale, and I may have to cut it down some more...

Looking at the list of upcoming movies I want, I not only see some good solid catalog titles, I see some new award nominees/winners, I see TV sets, and classics.

Just because they're lean to you, does not mean they're lean to everybody. I'd LOVE a slow month...

Not me. The LOTR movies are the only movies I own on DVD where I purchased both the Theatrical and Extended... not as Double-Dips, but rather because I wanted to own them both.

I will be owning both the Theatrical set, and the Extended Edition set.

Alan,

I think I'll be in the same boat as you. I'll keep them both. I just wish that when the Extended Editions are released they have seamless branching so I don't have to take up too much shelf space

I put the bonus discs in paper sleeves and put them in the pocket at the front of the EEs. I doubt that the EEs will be more than 3 discs each, so just buy a 4disc holder

Not on a 3.5-4 hour high action movie you don't. The quality penalty is too high

Hopefully they just put it onto 2 discs, if you're too lazy to get up after 2 hours to change it you have bigger problems

Forgot about the bandwidth hit. Hopefully the "Ultimate" set includes both versions.

Definitely. I'll be passing on these and using my DVD EE's until then.
