I saw both Sunday concerts last year having little prior knowledge and still had a blast, so I might make time for this years' as well.
When Kenny-san asked for the Taylor acoustic, i was kinda skeptical cause sometimes artists ask for expensive stuff just to see if they can get it. In this case, it was totally worth it wasn't it?

So if you liked last year's shows as a blind buy, trust me this time We're going for the path never travelled this year

Hey guys, I think this might be my first post on this forum...but anyway I do have a question.

I have a habit of going to sleep with my TV on and usually a bluray or DVD playing. I need to get rid of my DVD player (I usually play DVDs on there at night because I am less worried) to make more room. So, is it safe to let a bluray player on all night?

My Dad's friend let's his HDTV on 24 hours a day, so I'm not worried about that. I'm only worried about my Bluray Player.

Welcome!

I can't give you a definitive answer to your question, but I would say that, as you might imagine, adequate ventilation around the player will be of primary concern. Most players will probably go into a screensaver mode and stop spinning the disc transport after a while- this will essentially be a "low power" mode that will keep the unit relatively cool. As long as the machine has room to breathe, I think you'll probably be just fine.

... but don't sue me if your house burns down.

Don't worry, I won't. ;)

Thank you, I will probably take my DVD player out sometime this week, or maybe not... It's like I'm in love with that thing, been through some good times with it. All it is is an old $40 Magnavox player too.

It's not something I'd recommend, but it's no worse for your player than it is for your old DVD player

Most have sleep timers.

You're making the assumption that you're awake enough to set it. Invariably if I set it, I go past it I really like those new movement sensors that will shut the set off if it doesn't detect movement for a certain time. THey just need to pair it with user defineable hours to be most effective

Likin' the videos.

During Rising I started thinking about Tsugaru from DDR7, next thig I know the song's got a lil electric guitar too.

HMK look multi-talented; mix of pop style songs, and some hip-hop with the scratch and beat box.

I've discovered many new favorites blind-going to con-certs *drum* *cymbal*. Kalafina comes to mind most recently.

And yes, totally worth it on the Taylor.

HMK probably the best way to describe it is "pop-hop". That advertisement is for their Blu-ray BTW They've done probably a half dozen anime themes including Naruto and Bleach

Hey Jeff, I already commented on this in Pentons thread, but Ill mention it here, too.

I would like to comment on something that universal is doing that I really appreciate.

They have set up a facebook page in which, we the consumer, can vote their next bluray releases.

To me this is a GREAT way to get fan input on titles that WE want and I hope you can talk to the powers that be to convince more studios to do something like this.

I'd rather vote for Universal to retransfer their catalog titles instead of DNRing ancient transfers then slapping them onto Blu-ray.

I think it's great too. On the Universal Facebook page you will find, under the discussions tab a discussion "Movies we want on Blu-ray." That's a discussion thread I started months ago, which lead to this voting on titles (see Universal's response on the discussion page). They even respond in some cases to posts made. There's also a thread I started there on which movies we would like to see for the burn-on-demand program at Universal. I am trying to get this going on all Facebook studio Blu-ray sites and so far have started one a few months ago on the Warner one as well.

Here's a link to my thread, you must become a member of the Universal page to view it (I think), but please keep my thread as a request forum and not a complaint forum for bad transfers, you can always start another thread about that yourself. There's also one about combo discs there.

The link to my forum on Universal movies wanted on Blu::

Re the USHE Facebook survey:

Setting aside the issues handling this via Facebook presents (become a fan; grant the application permission/access to your account), I wish the movie choice survey options were . . . fresher. There are a lot of evergreens there--catalog perennials that we all know will eventually get released. We know at least one of the pre-fab answers is already on the way to BD.

How 'bout at least a selection of pre-1970 titles along with the usual suspects? Or a "write-in" option? Or, "What title did we release to HD DVD are you most excited to see on BD?"

You'll need to unpack that comment please. I posed three illustrative questions. I don't see how my comments answered any of them.

(If you're referring to the last one about current HD DVD exclusives, my answers to that question include Eternal Sunshine, Skeleton Key and The River . . . none of which are even possible to mention given the way USHE has set up the survey . . . thus my criticism.)

Your meaning is still opaque, at least to me. Taking a few moments to explain what you mean rather than simply refer to something you feel is self-evident might be helpful. (I don't see that Merrick even asked--or implied--a question in his last post.)

So if MGM can release The Thomas Crown Affair and To Live and Die in L.A recently amidst their financial troubles, why can't they release any more James Bonds?

Maybe someone else can figure it out

Neither one of these titles are something that would particuarly excite new owners. James Bond is MGM's crown jewel.
