Could you bring this issue to the attention of your contacts at Fox?
Not an insider, but FOX does acknowledge the problem on this page.

I am waiting for the replacement disc.

I would honestly like some answers about this from the 2 cents for today.

Netflix CFO Barry McCarthy said he expects to see 1300-1500 Blu-ray releases by the end of the year with 300 being new releases the rest would be catalog. http://www.homemediamagazine.com/new...ticle_ID=12196

The first 2 months of this year we had only 55 releases. To get that many releases there would have to have be an average of at least 30 titles a week. Is he way over estimating or should we really expect to see that many titles released on Blu-ray this year?

Warner already said ealier that the will release title Until and on May..but that was before saying that it delayed releasing them for 3 week. My guess is that all title announced on Blu-ray will get on HD DVD till 3rd week on June, but release that are released in June on Blu-ray will never see the light on HD DVD".

He mispoke. What he meant to say was that NetFlix expected to stock 1300-1500 Blu-Ray discs by the end of the year.

hi Bill,

Following the Paramount announcement, can we expect Sweeney Todd, There Will Be Blood and Cloverfield to be bit-(re)budgeted to take advantage of the Blu-ray specs?

Bill if you could expand on Azumi's question...When is Paramount expected to announce this titles for Blu-ray? Is work currently being done on the titles? Thanks.

Bill,
Any comments on the news about New Line and the firing of the two co-founders?

radagast, www.deadlinehollywood.com has done some pretty thorough reporting over the last couple of months on the downfall of New Line and what led up to it. It's been pretty fascinating to follow.

Bill, with the folding of New Line into WB, does this mean future releases of New Line films (subsequent to ones that have already been authored) will have a lossless track decodable by current gen players (ie not DTS-MA)?

So you're telling me that as of right now, they only had 400 or so copies of each movie in stock? If that is true, its no wonder their blu-ray service was horrible.

I think he was joking about why there were long waits, thats why he had a smiley face.

Here is a quote from the article:
Quote:
He expects to see about 1,300 to 1,500 Blu-ray releases by the end of the year, including 300 new titles, and the remaining, catalog.
I would think thats on top of what is currently released so on top of the 400-500 available. So by the end of the year that mean 1700-2000 titles available.

I have never heard anyone mention that many titles and some studios have announced titles for 2009. I don't know where the titles would come from two recent direct to video movies (Chaos and Highlander) don't have BD release. With the release schedule we have so far this year I could see maybe half that.

Thats why I asked: is the Netflix CFO way over estimating the releases or should we actually expect that many?

Nothing will change in that regard

Basically they're leaving NL creative intact while purging administration marketing and other support structures. This also means that WB will have to approve budgets, loans, whatever for new NL films

I'll go ahead and ask you Wicky or Bill because someone is going to ask it...Does this also included WB telling what to do with their Blu-ray releases in regards to bitrates, remastering, and audio codecs?

Personally I think WB will leave NL alone in regards of home video.

Will New Line continue to distrubute their own movies in the states? Any chance we'll see Warner Brothers taking over international distribution in the foreseable future? I for one hope that happens since New Line's movies in Sweden are distributed by companies that doesn't release blu-ray!

New Line has never distributed their own movies. Warner has always done it. They will continue as a seperate label, just like Miramax does. It's very likely most of their foreign alliances will continue the way they were.

No, but WB isn't going to be doing the bitstarved lossy stuff any longer either, since there's no need to pander to the look and sound of good enough any more
