On another note,

It appears that Transformers 3 certainly has all of the potential to not suck as bad as the 2nd one did.

This part of the article alone gives me some hope that it wont be complete trash:

Also no scenes with Turturro in a thong would be nice, too.

Whether it sucks or not...who cares as long as it's in 3D.

Jeff,

Walmart.com has a new listing for Mission: Impossible 3 for August 3. They list the audio has DTS-HD. Please tell me this is a new disc and not just a repackaging.

It is almost certainly simply a cover art refresh like the rest of the Paramount lineup. Since MI4 is going into production for next year, any new disc would be attached to that

That stinks.

Why would they even go to the trouble of new artwork if the new film will be out next year? The reason I thought it may be a new disc is because Walmart added DTS for the audio.

The current release is on 2 BD25's. Isn't that still more costly to make vs 1 BD50? I'm sure the film and extras can fit on that now.

They'd be far more likely to just eliminate the bonus disc until next year than to author a new disc.

They're doing a cover art refresh across their entire line.

They did this for Italian Job, for a pile of titles. Just assume that any new Paramount solicitation for a movie already released is a cover art refresh until proven otherwise

I just wanted to pop in and thank you Jeff for taking the time to peak your head of knowledge into many other threads and share what you know with us while we "attempt' to grasp what we are talking about.

Much appreciated!!

You're welcome, I don't want to see anyone misorder, and especially not end up with something they can't return.

On another topic, holy crap on Breaking Bad tonight, I saw the scenario coming last week, but not how it looks like things are going to play out. Way cool, and PAINFUL that we have to wait till next March

Amen brother!!

ANy thoughts on E3 for this week? I hope that Sony has something big up their sleeves. Right now it seems like everything E3 related has been revealed.

There's always stuff that's not announced in advance.

I predict that woman from Nintendo will suck all the life out of their press conference for the third year in a row

Last year Nintendo had the most aces up their sleaves. I mean who saw Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M coming? The excitement was somewhat tempered by the lack of a Zelda announcement.

MS definitely had the most flash in their press conference (McCartney and Ringo showing up) with the only ace being that Halo: Reach was coming.

Sony on the otherhand didn't really show off any big guns except for the PSP Go, which nobody seems to have wanted.

Hopefully Sony will pull off more this year, but maybe my expectations are too high.

PSPGo is going to be allowed to die a quiet death most likely, though I'm sure the general form factor will be used on PSP2 as that wasn't the problem

They're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Spinning media+portable does not mix, and is very prone to breakage. Making big cartridges is expensive

Already started. Four days after it came out last year!

Yeah, Gamestop won't even take them anymore

ON the upside, I don't think anyone's going to try the download only portable again any time soon

MS hasn't really shown off any bombshells thus far. Halo Reach does look pretty awesome though. Kinect (pka Natal) does show some potential for very lazy people.

I do like the idea of ESPN on 360

I'm sure ESPN on 360 is a major feature, and the Natal interaction will get a lot of attention

Personally I think free Hulu would be far more valuable.

The Nintendogs thing is going to be playing on a lot of news broadcasts. That's what most of this Kinect stuff is for, it's morning show bait

Well Kinect has so far VERY much underwhelmed me. So far (the press conference is still going on) its shown nothing REMOTELY interesting to me that would entice me to buy this. Maybe they are saving the best for last, but they have shown nothing remotely interesting to the hardcore gamer.

Again the conference is still going on, but if this is the best they've got the Kinect will be a failure.

I do like the look of the new 360 though and the fact they announced a price drop for the regular 360 Elite to $199 and the Natal enhanced version at $299 is a good move. So yeah, Id say MS ended it on the right note, but Kinect was completely underwhelming.

EDIT: The new xbox 360 slim does not apparently have Natal built in. So nevermind on that.

That presentation was not meant for us. It's meant for the same 60% of idiot Wii owners that bought one to bowl. Though if the Star Wars game plays as advertised.....

Couldn't agree more.

My belief is that MS will realize that the crowd that is into those games have already gotten the Wii and will probably have no interest in buying another system to just do gimmicky stuff that you could do at a gym like me.
