Hmmm this seems fishy
Given that people are trying it on the floor, creating a trick would be counter productive

If you remember with the Wii, small twitches and not big moves are all that's necessary to start things moving.

Given all the glitches on stage this year, I wouldn't be suprised if they put some of the stuff on video, but again, given that people can run across the street and try it themselves, faking is counter productive, and they would be retarded to slit their throats like that. If it was that broken, they just wouldn't have showed it.

Yeah, thats my thought. The nintendo press conference was very 3DS heavy, which means little for me. I was hoping for a bombshell announcement like a Wii HD or Metroid Prime 4 and Super Mario Galaxy 3 (j/k!), but no.

The ball is in Sony's court now.

Who wouldn't want to buy a Kinect after seeing you can pet animals and do dance moves?? Despite the fact that you can do all of that in the real world and in many cases for free!!

Kinect has success written all over it for the hardcore gamer. Who needs a cat or a dog when you have a Kinect?!

Yeah, I was reading how Uncharted 2 had a nasty bug before the E3 demo last year and they had a guy backstage mimicking the onstage stuff in case it went down. Still that looks like way too much lag

I don't think anyone is worried about optimizing a "look at the pretty car" mode as much as the driving thing

I prefer to pet virtual animals. Kinect is must own day one for me.

Seriously, I fail to see how any kid would get much use out of it when they won't be able to actually "feel" anything.

I use my Wii regularly...

I'm currently without a PS3 (YLOD), but between Kinect and the XBOX 360 Slim, I may be adding a 360 to my WANT LIST for this year.

The biggest players of Nintendogs are women over 30

Stop thinking about this as a product that actually has something to do once it's in your house. All of these demos are designed for ad nauseum replay on CNN and the Today show to make ill-educated, poor/no research consumers have to have one. They'll worry about what to actually do with it later.

If thats the case then MS really has a fight on their hands. If the 360 costs $200 (arcade) and then Natal costs $100 then it would cost $300 minimum to enjoy what Wii users get for $100 less.

But whatever, its MS money to lose or gain.

One of the things that keeps a lot of people OUT of the gym is that they don't like the exhibition/competitive atmosphere. I found the Nike Kinetic (ironically) program for PS2 to be really good personally, and the Ubisoft one looks like a good successor to that

As I said, think wives and boyfriends of gamers. The living room features (gesture remote and such) are targeted at the whole family. Think Wife Approval Factor as a target

Mazel tov!

I don't use my Wii for exercise. I play it for the games... though I do like the added bonus of getting the exercise with SOME of the games.

~Alan<~~~~~~~~~Looking forward to Kinect and MOVE...

Keep in mind that virtually all games claiming to be 3D, REGARDLESS of plaform, is not doing real 3D. They're using tricks like the stuff in the Samsung set.

Jeff,

Are we still on track for some of the bigger Blu releases later this year? Reason I ask is because it's already been a fairly slow year. And I went back and looked at some history. For the DVD releases:
Jurassic Park 1 & 2 announced Jun 13, 2000 (for release Oct 10, 2000)
Indiana Jones Trilogy announced May 6, 2003 (for release Nov 4, 2003)

Here we sit in the middle of June, and it's pretty quiet. No rumors of imminent announcements, etc. I know times are bit different, but shouldn't there be more "chatter" if these things are indeed coming this year? Surely there should be something happening in the next month or so, right?

Back in 2000 shows like VSDA were where things like that were announced. Now it's all about Comic-Con

They really need to spend less time ragging on the competition and more time showing me why Move isn't just WiiMotion+++

Is this guy from current Coke commercials or something?

Honestly, if I were Sony on this PSP campaign, I would focus on getting all the former Nintendo and Genesis 3rd parties to license me your ROMs for legal emulators, you might get farther

This is kind of boring. Sony has done SLIGHTLY more with the move than MS showed with Kinect, but not much. Yeah, they did show some actual games with it, but I cant say the games were all that interesting. Yes, Move looks more like a slightly better Wiimote.

I am now mega pissed about the lack of Resistance 3. Mega pissed. Jeff if you recall that scene from Alan Wake where his wife shows him the typewriter. Thats me right now.

Jeff,

Do you know if next week's repackaging of the Bourne Trilogy contains the combo discs or the regular single sided ones?

Also, I haven't heard any playback complaints of the combo discs, but was wondering if Universal will keep making them. After the Bourne discs, Traffic, Out of Africa, and maybe 1 other title, it seems like all of their catalog announcements are single sided.

That is fine by me, and probably most everyone else. Are they backing off combos? I figured we'd see more of them by now, but it looks to be the opposite.

Any future Bourne pressings are combos

I haven't heard any horror stories about the combos, I don't know what that means.

It could mean

1- There's no big problems at all
2- They're cranking out coasters by the bushel, but their QC is good enough to catch virtually all of them
3- They're not seeing a return worth the additional expense
4- The discs are not surviving rental (quite likely, they're stiff as a board and probably self destructing in netflix) and the returns aren't there

So I don't know where they're sitting on the combo issue. They may also be feeling the pressure of the people that are not purchasing them BECAUSE they're flippers, but the number of "two side no sale" people is probably relatively small.
