There's a certain dark humor at play here, as the BTTF films were not overly grainy. The point should be made that whatever grain is a part of the image does not need to be preserved in any way.

Merely left alone.
Judging by the comments Bob Gale made, he's saying that they didn't set it and forget it, but had a proper dirt removal done that retained the look of the film

Often ignored things that Lucas did on the SEs, and with FX heavy films like BTTF. I'd love to see a push for re-compositing the old elements digitallly. It removes all that generation loss and really looks fantastic. Not creating NEW ones, just re-assembling the old without all the problems that optical compositing brought to the table.

Is Lucas a fan of DNR or grain?

Given that Lucas was the leader in getting theaters to step up their presentation quality, and founded THX for that purpose, without saying anything definitive I'm going to go for detail retention

The HD broadcasts I've seen of the trilogy have been impressive, even squished for cable, and the re-composited speeder footage in Empire was positively gorgeous.

I addressed it a few days ago

There was a malware attack on the banner network we use. Google has cleared the site (along with several dozen others), but it takes several days to perpetuate. Firefox started blocking this morning, while Chrome was doing it friday.

Just an FYI, Safari started blocking certain pages on Friday as well.

They're all being served by the same database, it just depends on how long between refreshes there are

Sony CE has states that they will now consider doing more HD remixes of PS2 classics.

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/110/1101698p1.html

First God of War collection and now Sly Cooper.

Here's to hoping to Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter!!

Shadow of Colossus is rumored to be getting an HD re-release as well.

I do hope that Nintendo considers doing Wiimakes similar to what they did with Metroid Prime. Im specifically interested in Windwaker.

MS for Halo and Halo 2.

Good move? Im not complaining.

On another note since today was the day that BTTF trilogy got announced for (DNR-free!) release.

Can someone explain to me why so many people consider BTTF 2 the best one??!!

IMO that is easily the worst one in the series. It was wayyy to cartoony. Biff-Griff became goofy and the plotline that went with an alternate reality was just plain dumb (Nixon to seek 5th term, anyone?!). The film was decent after they went back to 1955, but please help me understand what makes this one so many people's favorite. Was it the hoverboards?

Part III on the otherhand was great although many people didn't like the western theme.

I'm guessing they ran out of time on Return of the Jedi and only did select shots.

Bad shots remain:

*You can still see through Han as he takes the shuttle down to Endor ("I told 'ya it was going to work! No problem"), and the horrible lip sync issue is still there throughout the sequence ("I don't know! Fly casual!"..."They're not going for it Chewie").

*Garbage mattes (the gray boxes) on several shots during the space battle.

*The rear TIE fighters still "pop" into existence on the "fighters coming in!" cockpit shot.

Just a few examples I hope & pray they will fix for BD.

I love all three of them - not sure there is a "worst" in the series. The future stuff in 2 is hokey, but not in a detrimental way, and I've always loved the stuff with Biff from 1985B. It sucks Thomas Wilson never had much of a career after that.

Its funny if you see Tom Wilson in interviews, he is nice calm and friendly more like how he is at the end of the first one and frankly he has very thuggish intimidating look.

Hokey is the word that just perfectly sums up the second one for me. I consider the first one the best, but Id say the third is my favorite. Its great the way Marty gets made fun of when he arrives in Hill Valley wearing the clothes that 1955 doc brown picked out for him. "I didn't know the circus was in town"

Jeff,

If you need something to LAUGH about in regards to Kinect:
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Xbox-360...news-7249.html

They expect hardcore gamers to buy it first. LOL

After they showed how awesome a gaming experience it would provide to the hardcore gamer.

Too funny.

Hardcore gamers tend to be tech nerds and therefore gadget hounds, yes I'll expect a lot of people to want one.

If I can get it with Fable 3 for about a hundred bucks I'd think about it (not saying that's going to happen)

80 million people bought a Wii that alone defies logic. Too bad maybe half of them have actually realized that it does something other than bowl or be a yuppie fashion accessory.

Besides if that rumored Ghostbusters patch actually happens combined with the ability to actually get the last few achievements (glitches were never patched) I'm all over it And that Harmonix dance game is hella fun from what I hear (cause Harmonix always delivers great stuff)

Worthwhile trailer viewing

I liked the more complex story with juggling the different times and timelines. In comparison part 3 was rather simplistic. And the future scenes were not hokey but satire, IMO.
