I agree on Tom Welling, he isn't that great an actor and the Smallville series has completely screwed up the continuity in that there is NO WAY anybody will not recognize Superman as Clark Kent.

Superman Returns wasn't so bad but it slaved itself too much to the Donner series like you said.

One thing I dont EVER want to see is Batman and Superman in the same film.

btw, I recommend ANYONE who is a fan of Batman to seriously check out Batman: Under the Red Hood. It is EASILY the best Batman animated film since Mask of the Phantasm and should fill the gap quite nicely while we are in the middle of a 4 year wait until the next Nolan Batman film. Yeah, its that good. The only negative is that it doesn't have Mark Hamill as the voice of the Joker.

To be fair, that was the premise of the show. "Smallville" was not "Superman", it was "Smallville". "Krypto" or "The Misadventures of Jimmy Olsen" might not follow all the rules of "Superman", either.

If Rule #1 of Superman (per Jeff Kleist) is "Clark Kent is the disguise", Rule #2 of Superman (per Doctorossi) is "Don't apply logic to the effectiveness of the disguise- just accept it".

Nevertheless, if you can look past that the show is pretty good at times. I about two seasons behind though in watching it.

Warner should try adapting Birthright if they want to reboot Superman. If they don't want to do an origin Grant Morrison's All Star Superman would be a good story to adapt into a movie.

Darkseid or Brainiac are necessary villians with Lex being his corporate self behind the scenes.

I'm in Chicago for the next 48 hours for X Japan's Lollapalooza debut, if you're going to be there make sure you check out the most influential metal act of the last 20 years you've never heard of

Jeff,

Is there any reason to be excited about Star Wars Celebration V, starting August 12 from a bluray perspective? Do they have these Celebration events every year?

There will be a live interview between George Lucas and Jon Stewart. I hope Stewart asks him where the heck the blurays are!

Seeing how Jon is a user of Apple products he may not be aware Blu-ray exists.

I asked Colbert what side he and his character were on during the format war. He said he didn't even know about it because that would require him to have time to watch movies

Sugizo's a great guy, an excellent guitarist, and one of Hide's closest friends.

I was at the Last Live with no ticket 13 years ago, and Yoshiki told me a few years back that if he'd known I was there he would have totally let me in

His people are my good friends, they made sure that history would not repeat itself

SW Celebration happens every 2-3 years, If there is something it won't be a lot.

I was thinking the same until I saw them live in Hong Kong in January 2009 with Sugizo. That show was awesome and Sugizo played like he was Hide!!

This was like 3 years ago during the war. I was hoping for a good rant on how the red format would win over the Blu, but unfortunately he lacked context

Ah.

Speaking of red:

Yikes...

As for the "war", I do love that Tropic Thunder has that little (improvised) scene to remind me of those days forever...

I should clarify he would have let me in in 1997 cause I came from America to see them, not because I was important or knew anyone Until about 5 years ago he really didn't know how big a foreign fan base they had

Well, he throws in his own flourishes, but he's certainly more than capable of covering the part, and given his decades of friendship with the whole band, was a natural person to jump into lead guitar. He's not a replacement, he's more of an alternate.

I've been into X since before they took the makeup off, and I've been waiting close to 20 years for tomorrow, and they're a big reason why I'm where I am today. Hopefully next time I'm in Japan they'll have a Tokyo Dome show, and of course there's the US tour coming up.

I guess I'm not the only one that thinks Welling isn't the best actor, then again how much acting talent does it take to punch through a brick wall or run faster than the speed of light?
