What A&E show? I can't even venture a guess without knowing that

Hamlet, I think Barry's doing it, I haven't gotten it myself yet. If wand when there's something I can share about it I will

No, I'm not getting Halo Reach, the games are good, but not great FPSes whose popularity is mostly the result of people not playing any FPS between Doom and Halo 1. I'll borrow it from someone or pick it up for $20 or something in a year or so. I haven't even played ODST yet

I hear ya. I think the Halo series (there are Sony exclusive franchises guilty of this too) while very good are often overrated and get a lot of very early good scores due to exclusive reviews being allowed to break embargo.

You just watch:
IGN will award Halo Reach anywhere between a 9.7-10 and call it the best 360 game ever. They gave Halo 3:ODST a 9, which was pretty sickening since that game was at best a 7 given the lack of content for a full priced game.

Nevertheless, they are fun and I do enjoy them, but I don't feel that they hold a candle to the Mass Effects, Fallouts, Uncharteds, the first Bioshock or Red Dead Redemptions, even Batman: Arkham Asylum and now Assassins Creeds.

Heck I felt Borderlands was better than Halo 3.

The only thing that is clear to me is that you do tiptoe around my question and that I should better have a look at the Aliens Blu-Ray instead of watching interviews with its director

I am confused. I thought I answered your question quite clearly.

THAT really makes perfect sense
My response to the first unbolded part was "yes" we should believe him when he says something looks great. As for the unbolded part I dont know where I EVER said we shouldn't believe him when he said they got rid of all the grain.

The point Im making here is that if Cameron says something looks great, I believe him REGARDLESS of the other details he makes because he has the history and reputation to earn my trust in that regard.

Recent events seem to have film freaks questioning how FILMMAKERS OWN FREAKIN films should look and I ALWAYS felt Directors intent should be the goal, even if that goal is different than how we might have done it if we made the film.

Here is the bottom line:
We have word from the insiders and Cameron himself that Aliens will look fantastic on bluray.
We now have visual evidence that supports that claim.

So at the end of the day Aliens looks fantastic and I think we can ALL agree that is a GREAT thing for bluray and die hard fans of the film such as myself.

I will ask that further discussion be moved to PM.

Billy the Exterminator unlikely at best. Out of their reality lineup Gene Simmons and Dog would come first, and those are iffy at best

No further discussion necessary as we just have different opinions on the matter of the director changing his films and a discussion won't change that. And yes, the Aliens release seems to be great. That I will definitely agree on once I have seen the disc IN MOTION

I agree as well that in motion is the true judge. I hate screenshot science as much as anybody but at least these screenshots provide evidence that the film was handled with care.

So far I have never encountered a Blu-Ray that had caps that looked very good to me (like Aliens) that did not look at least good in motion. Nor have I ever seen a movie with really bad looking caps that I found acceptable when watching the Blu-Ray.

So in that regard captures are rather comforting for me and I will continue to look at them, but I would definitely not call that screenshot science

It appears everyone in the world is happy about Aliens.

Even Garth Franklin on darkhorizons.com has a news post up about it.

I didn't see anyone post this. Stephen King is finally adapting the Dark Tower books to the movies and TV. I've waited many a year for this. I have high hopes. Even though it is less well known, I think it has huge potential on the scale of LoTR and HP.

Let the debate on who should play Roland begin.

I vote Roland Gift.

He can also collaborate on the soundtrack with Roland Orzabal and his Roland synthesizer.

Roland Joffe will direct.

Ha, be careful. Ka will surely come back at you.

At least you didn't pick Roland Emmerich. The plot would be paper thin.

Ron Howard and Akiva Goldsamn will certainly do their best to deliver a meh mechanic job. Hopefully Steven King will have a heavy hand in guiding them and write a lot of the screenplays. I always enjoyed The Stand miniseries, for all its cuts it's a pretty good adaptation and unquestionably his vision.

... if they're at their best. Goldsman at less than his best (ie. Batman & Robin) is nothing less than an insult to the craft of screenwriting.

At least they state they are committed to a trilogy of movies. I hope the films cover the books and the TV series delves into things not in the books or things that occured between them.

Hopefully, they can maintain some kind of continuity.

Oh goodness. Batman & Robin was awful. There is one scene where the Batmobile doors closes and you can see the fake rubber ice sway back and forth.

I never saw the movie, but the screenplay is to the average produced film script as my farts are to Beethoven.

It was a lot better in the Japanese dub I saw on a flight over. They had all the guys who do the Power Rangers Super Sentai shows do the voices.

At least Clooney had the integrity to publicly apologize for it. He wanted to play Batman, I probably would have signed up too

Yes, but he shouldn't have blamed himself. Maybe he thought he could've done more to encourage them in a better direction, but it wasn't his mess.
