Jeff and/or fellow Bits peoples: has anyone heard any rumblings as to when Warner Bros may release ""The Right Stuff"" on Blu-ray? It is hands down one of my favourite films and (in my opinion) a classic, even if not a historically accurate one. I'd love to be able to get this one on Blu-ray as the poor old DVD just isn't cutting it any more.

Right Stuff is not a title they'd ignore, I'd wager you'll see a digibook of it sooner rather than later

Just the type of release I'm hoping for. Thanks.

Just read the books, that way you get the full story and can fill in whatever massive cuts they make (though 7 should be more intact than anything since 3)
I'm afraid to read them in case they ruin the movies for me, like so many books do, but maybe I'll give them a try sooner rather than later. I do know they left out a lot of interesting subplots due to time restrictions.

They could release them in a box set, I believe it's the studio's best option for classics. I was surprised when Warner announced the "Maltese falcon" and "Treasure of Sierra madre" stand-alone releases, I figured they'd be going for "Humphrey Bogart box set 1" etc. pretty soon.

The books are far more satisfying than the films. IMHO they didn't just leave out subplots, they left out very important details throughout. The worst offender was Order of the Phoenix/Yates.

Rumor has it that many of the stuff left out of OotP was actually filmed and many people are hoping it will end up on the Ultimate Edition bluray.

I can safely say that I will be festively pissed off if Warner doesn't put an extended edition on the OotP Ultimate Edition.

Jeff, please tell Bill that fans are expecting an extended edition of OotP for the Ultimate Edition.

Thanks. I am quite confident that either one of you can get this request to the proper people, despite someone else thinking "that the bits shouldn't be told shit"

Alien Anthology got its first review and they confirmed that the the films are all a thing of beauty to behold.

They make the comment that whoever did the remaster for Aliens needs to share their tips for everyone else on a lesson on how to apply noise reduction without the loss of fine details.

That's excellent news. I saw a few screen shots of Aliens and they looked very promising.

Its not a GREAT review, but it should tell people everything they want to know.

I look forward to Bill and Jeff's review, which I hope is coming soon

I wish, but Yates made a very big deal about wanting to make the shortest movie from the longest book. My understanding is that he hacked and slashed at the script stage.

There is reportedly 45min of footage hacked from OoTP, but I seriously doubt most of it is finished. Yates loves cutting (nothing from the missing first hundred pages of Goblet was restored for instance), so I'm seriously doubting there will be any signifigant additions.

Warner has an opportunity to make these great for fans. The current two Ultimate editions that are coming out next week have very little over the current blurays.

Yates didn't do Goblet - that was Mike Newell. As I thought the first half of Goblet dragged, I didn't mind most of the edits.

I'm heading back to NYC in a few weeks for work, and I'm going to have dinner with my brother who just started at NYU. Any New Yorkers with suggestions on a good place, not too expensive to snag some food? I don't know what part of campus he's on, or whether that makes a difference. I've never been to NYU, just Columbia and a few others. I'm only really familiar with the major downtown area.

NYU? You gotta hit Katz's. Couple miles walk, but that'll just make it taste even better.

Oh, and you'll see $17 for a sandwich and think "This is cheapish?", but that bad boy will fill both of you up for the whole day.

There's a great Thai place on 8th between 26th and 27th (or 27th and 28th, I forget). It's across the street from the McDonalds in the middle of the block.
