Yes. What? There can't be random lemon products in mass produced cables? And we all know Monster is perfect.

Yep. HDMI or DisplayPort. Period.

PS. And maybe USB 3.0 aka SuperSpeed.

is there any real difference between the Monster 700hd High Speed and the 1000hd Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable? am i better off getting the 700?

i need it for my AV to the TV. im already runnin an hdmi cable from my ps3.
i can get the 700hd for cheap, but i just want to know if any of you guys know the difference between the two. i was on their website, and they seem to list alot more features from the 1000hd, but yet, other info pages list them about the same. aslo, are they a category 2 cable/1.3? sorry, im kinda new to the technology, i just saw on previous posts that some were saying alot about their cable being a 1.3. i just know that my Sony PS3 Cable is a 1.3 HDMI Cable, cuz it says on the specs. thanx

2 m. length - $79.95. Even at 50% off, that would be a ripoff.

The higher quality Monster cables have better shielding and are made of higher quality materials. Will you be able to discern a difference? Probably not.

The magazine reviewers seem to think highly of Monster cable though. Personally, I like the look of them but would only buy them off eBay at a huge discount. I got a 16' Monster HDMI 800 series cable for like $35 off eBay (brand new too!).

To me it's all about design. They look nice and make me feel like I'm not losing part of the signals if I use the fancier cables. It's psychological to me but I'm ok with that.

It's digital. Ya ain't losin' part of the signal. You are losin' your hard-earned money.

Folks, it's been posted a million times, but even at ebay prices, Monster cables are a ripoff. It's not that they're bad cables, it's that they're hugely marked-up. Monoprice or Bluejeanscable can be had in the same lengths for under $10 in most cases.

If you already bought the cable, keep it. It's a good cable (though their marketing about speeds and all of that is total BS). If you haven't... don't buy one.

It isn't that simple.

Shielding & build quality have a lot to do with that too. I've seen plenty of cheap HDMI cables fall apart or not transmit the signal properly (the colored snowstorm is a particular favorite).

You're right, I've oversimplified it, but thus far any and every cable I've seen from Monoprice (for an example of a cheaper alternative) has been capable of properly passing on the signal. I'm saying that all that "special" shielding and braiding and extra thickness isn't really doing anything special.

I'm not trying to argue the point as I will definitely concede to your knowledge on the subject, but everything Monster states isn't necessary to pass on the information.

Been using monoprice for a year now, PQ looks just as good as a $150 moster cable. theres no way im paying that much for a cable when a $6 one does the same thing.

I just upgraded from the monster 800 hdmi(16 feet) to monster m1000(16 foot) and there was a clear improvement. You could see much more detail and as the cable is breaking in everyday it gets clearer and clearer. Just for fun I put the old 800 back on and the picture looks compressed like there's no separation go back to the m1000 and the picture opens up again.

Cable break-in? Seriously? Now here I have to call shenanigans. We're talking about copper here. I can understand speaker break-in (moving parts, etc) and even plasma break-in, but cable is a new one on me.

I call

It has been proven time and again that what you claim to describe is not true. You will either get a clear signal (video/audio) or not. There are no "shades of grey" in this type of digital transmission. Sorry, and no offense intended, but you see what you want to see.

And here is some more info I was at a friends house 4 guys watching nascar we pulled off an monster 800 (1meter) and replaced it with a m1000 (1 meter) and everyone in the room could see the difference. More detail and easier to focus on the info in the picture. Really I was expecting to see no difference ( on only a 1 meter cable)and I was proven wrong.

I picked up a new Denon receiver .. The installer used the hdmi, he also installed fiber optic Honeywell connection... I think this set up is really nice. Not really sure if this answers or helps.. It's all I got.

You go right ahead and give your hard-earned $$ away to the marketers at Monster, then. Just don't try to convince anyone around here that there is a difference, because there is not, regardless of what you and your friends "think" you see. Snowy picture and/or signal drop-out are one thing, but "more detail" and "clearer" cannot be. And the cable "breaking-in"? C'mon, read-up a little on how HDMI works. There are numerous articles linked in this thread.
