Why Monster HDMI cables don't give you a brighter, more natural picture:

- A packet of data containing A/V information is prepared for transmission.

- The sender looks at the data and performs a calculation on it to come up with a "parity" number.

- Both the data and the parity result are sent to the receiver.

- The receiver takes the data, performs the same calculation on it, and checks to make sure that their result matches the parity number. If it does, the data was received correctly.

- For the data packet to become corrupted enroute and for the parity information to also be corrupted in such a way that they now match while being incorrect is incredibly unlikely.

- If the parity check does NOT match, the packet is discarded, and the pixels that should have been coloured will be white. Because A/V information is time dependent, there's no point in retransmitting it.

- For all data packets to be corrupted in such a way that overall colour or sharpness is shifted while remaining valid is flat out impossible.

The result of cable-induced distortion is white specks (missing packets) or loss of connection. Under no circumstances will HDMI cables improve or degrade your brightness, sharpness, or colour.

I don't think they're all THAT inflexible. They're just not like...floppy.

If you're worried about making the bends to the TV, you could always use these:
HDMI Wall Plate

I keep trying to think of an excuse to need them, but haven't found one...yet!

Whats the difference between HDMI 1.2 and 1.3 cables? Does the Xbox 360 require a certain one?

I use both my newly acquired Xbox and PS3 on the same 720p/1080i TV. Where I only have one HDMI cable(type unknown 6 foot $20 job) at the moment I switch it back and forth when using the systems. I notice on the 1080i or 720p setting the words, pop ups, and such on the PS3 look cleaner and crisper than the Xbox achievements and message popups which are blurry. I don't have the same game on both systems so I can't compare them but Mass Effect and Left 4 Dead both look good but say I'm playing one of them and someone sends me a msg that msg popup is blurred. Message is also blurry when not in a game aswell.

Is this because the Xbox should be using a different type of HDMI cable? Or is there a setting on my 360 I need to be checking as i'm a 360 noob?

Thx

you need to check your 360 settings. they should be able to use the same hdmi. go under display settings. you have to manually switch the 360 to 1080p.

Yezzur! Well atleast thinking bout it. Trying to decide between a stand or the wall mount. If the stand I end up liking [still surfing the net for it] costs more than getting it mounted then def will have it mounted. But at the moment kinda disinclined against mounting it since I wanna get it calibrated and not to mention get a decent surround system. Which isnt happening this year! I hear my wife calling I think she heard me type surround system lol

Monster cables are just to damn high, the cheaper ones work just as good, trust me,save your hard earned $!!! use the $ you saved on a cheaper HDMI cable and get some more blu's instead! "Dont waste your money on a expensive pair of cables, you get more mileage with a cheap set of cables,it s still MDMI to me!!!

I did find a place called CableGiant and they seem to have the thicker guage and better quality cables. I think HDMI is all the same but I also thing some are costructed a little better than other!

Considering that HDMI on an Xbox is basically a total fraud, it really shouldn't matter which one you use, as long as it connects your box to your TV.

Has anyone used the Insten HDMI cables? They look pretty sleek and I was tempted to pick a few up.
