I just bought a Bell'O cable from SEARS today. Is it a good brand, also the HDMI Cable I use for my PS3 is some cheap brand my dad got at Odd Lots. Should I get a better one?

It all depends on whether or not you want to waste your money.

That cable works great!

Define "better".

Do you have a picture? Is it clean, without pixellation, snow, or other obvious video anomolies? If so, your cable is perfectly fine and is giving you the EXACT same picture as a $300 Monster marketing cable would give you.

Anyone who says different has been suckered by the Monster (and Best Buy) marketing to the point they've convinced themselves they see a difference in order to justify the foolish purchase they made.

Well, I think my video games look way too "blocky" now...kinda preferred the CRT look.

What does the AWG stand for? I bought some 6ft 30AWG High Speed HDMI Cables from Monoprice, I see someone posted link to a 6ft 28AWG High Speed HDMI Cable W/ Ferrite Cores. Which cable is a better quality one?

Most likely, that's an LCD response time issue. Assume it only happens during motion?

28 is thicker than 30 and the ferrites cut down on interference/signal leakage (it's still a voltage, even if the payload is 1s & 0s).

Also stick with gold plated ends, rather than tin which can corrode over time.

Thanks, I think I'm going to order the 28AWG ones after the holidays.

For 3D Bluray from a HDMI 1.4 Bluray player/Receiver/TV, you should get the "High Speed w/ Ethernet" cable.

I'm curious about the research you did to determine that "the cables were not up to standard anymore". What standards are those and how did you determine that your cables were lacking? If your cables did not meet the standards for category 1 or category 2, then they should not be used, of course. But, that's different than replacing a cable that meets HDMI standards. A $5 cable from monoprice should work just as well as a $100 one from Monster.
My eyes don't lie, there was clearly a difference between the 2, here are similar cables I had before:http://www.amazon.com/Monster-V200-HDMI-2M-FlatScreen-Meters/dp/B000HKIP5A, now I saw a huge difference from the ones I had to the ones I have now. The newer ones were tough to hook up cause at first white specs would show up on the screen. I thought they were too powerful for my setup, but one of them wasn't set right, so I set it, and it was back to normal. My theory is that it takes more to produce a picture at 65" than at 32" or 46". You notice more "flaws" in a movie when you project it at a 65" rather than a 32", so in theory, a more powerful cable will help correct that. I'm just telling you my experiences. It may not be what all of u are saying, but this is what has happened to me.

I just found out my HDMI wire connected to my cable box to Kuro display is Category 1. Will installing a Category 2 "High Speed" HDMI cable improve the PQ and AQ?

Yes, they do. It's called the placebo effect.

Unless you did a controlled, side-by-side, double-blind A/B test with identical displays and identical BD players showing the identical scenes from identical movies, with only the cables being different, you have introduced your own bias into the test, which makes it completely invalid.

But enjoy your setup. Just don't come here trying to tell folks there is a difference, because there is not, and it only confuses the newbies who don't yet know better.

Added wires maybe, idk it just makes sense. Think about it. Back in the day, in order to get an HD picture, we had to use component cables, more wires than just the normal red, white, and yellow cables. HD takes more information, and that's why we have the HDMI cable. It's kinda the same concept with bigger tvs, the bigger they are, the more your gonna have to spend to get a nice picture. Yes you all may think I got suckered in, but the truth is I didn't. As a person who wants the best picture around, I noticed my tv wasn't looking right, I looked at all the possibilities, like the picture settings, normal menu and service, and all the cable connections, I have a collaboration disc, so things are fine with that. So, the only thing that was left was the cables. I have smaller tvs in the rest of the home, so I can't really test the differences, I would need a 65" to 65" comparison. But all I was doing was stating my experiences.

Here is my experience with HDMI cables

I have had 1 $80.00 Monster cable & still have it but don't use it.

Right now I have in my setup :

1 ~ 1 1/2 foot Monoprice HDMI
3 ~ 3 foot Monoprice HDMI
1 ~ 8 foot Monoprice HDMI
all with ferrit cores on each end & cost less than $30.00 .

1 ~ 25 foot HDMI that cost me $25.00

I can & have switched my monster HDMI with any of these & nothing changes in the picture quality whatsoever

See post 1523.

If it makes you feel better, spend the $5 on a new cable and replace it.

Im assuming you have a 1080p Kuro?

While playing a Bluray @ 1080p, Push the "display" or "Info" button on your TV remote. Does it display 1080p? (getting any video artifact?)

...more than likely the cable is o.k. because even a standard category 1 cable can pass a 1080p signal in certain instances. Short distance usually.

But to play it safe, Id spend $10 on a category 2 High Speed cable from Monoprice or Bluejeans.

EDIT: after re-reading your post again, you have this cable connected to your cable box...which probably only outputs 720p/1080i in which case a category 1 cable is probably ok. (unless you have directv On Demand 1080p, but even then its probably ok)

Now you nicely told me your experiences without chocking me by the neck, I just wanted to put my input in, not get chewed up. I would however like to know if anybody done this with a 65" tv and has or has not found any difference. But I'm glad I bought cables that work with my tv, sure the others might have, but my experiences so far with these new cables have been amazing.
