For shorter runs, 3 - 6 foot, I have used real cheap HDMIs off of Amazon in the past with no problem. In my last house, I did a little movie room and needed longer HDMI runs and got some 25 or 30 foot cheap HDMIs off Amazon. I only had 3 HDMI connections on my TV but got 4 to 'future proof'. Within one month, 2 cables were crap and didn't work...

In my current home, I got all Monoprice cables and got one of their Redmere cables for the longer run to my projector. It was fairly inexpensive and works great so far. Monoprice seems to have great cables are reasonable prices. No need to look elsewhere for me.

I also got one of their Redmere cables (50'). I works perfectly for 2D & 3D and it is thin enough to fit into raceways & bends easily around corners.

Yeah, for shorter runs, as you say, pretty much they might work just fine. For longer (15m) I use Connection Lab:

Though the snake one...

Op should add this to the first page. This video is very helpful for hdmi cable noobs. Watch it (apologies if it's has already been posted) before blowing money on Monster brand, boutique cables found on MusicDirect.com or any other ridiculously-priced hdmi cables.

I called Blue Jeans Cable up a couple years ago asking a lot of questions and receiving answers like what you'll see in the video. The great thing is he never tried to sell me on their in-house Belden cables (yet I bought them anyway).

It's long but he's honest and provides useful info. Hope this helps a bit.

Yea, that's a nice view. I never recommend Monster to people, though I used to have one. It's ok, a very good cable but it's riddiculously overpriced. This is why I recommended connection lab, but I could give a few other names, like supra for example. Brands that are really good but don't want too much of our money. Cause this is dishonest.

The OP has been long gone! Since the thread was originally started by him, it could only be edited in his name...his initial post only asked a question about HDMI and we have since turned it into a sort of 'fact' post.

Video added to the list.

Bluejeans are nice, I use them and I don't complain anyhow

Monster - pfff. Never had it but it sounds like daylight robbery.

Connection Lab - never had, never seen, but read some good things on the web.

Snake ones -

Default HDMI cable from local retailer

Using HDMI cable purchased from local retailer for 4.87$ only with no issue for last 6 months.
Why to use a cable for 60$???????

If you need multiple or have Amazon Prime, you should get some AmazonBasics brand. Monoprice can be a killer on the shipping.

After getting an HDMI switch I've noticed I may need to invest in some lighter cables. Or ones that bend easier. Right now I mostly have regular ones from Monoprice mixed with one Amazon Basics. With all of these plugged into my switch, the switch itself has so much weight in the back it almost want to stand up. Is Redmere pretty much it for thin cables? I'd be hooking up a WiiU, PS3, PS4, Oppo and HTCT 350 to my Samsung plasma.

The Monoprice Redmere is the way to go. I bought the 50' one and it works perfectly and bends easily in my raceway.

Yes,these are great. I have 3 3's and a 15' and I couldn't believe how small they are. I also have a few of these and they are great as well.

Hey guys, Iam still using my Connectionlab cable but I need another one. I've heard about Prolink HDMI. Do you know them? Or who's a distributor good enough?
