this topic is covered many times already..

Bottom line?

I pay about 10 bucks for 6ft hdmi at a local shop. Anything more than that,
well... what can I say?? It's a rip off!!!

I know some people take comfort in that they just paied 100+ for their monster hdmi.... that's fine.. If they have the money and feel good about it, that's good.

I for one know for sure that there is ABSOLUTELY NO PICTURE OR SOUND QUALITY DIFFERENCE between my 10 dollar cable, and my neighbor's 200 dollar monster cable, I think I will stick with my cheapo cable

i agree that the short cables work great and are not at issue. however, my brothers GF works for monster and i get any monster product for 70% off. so suddenly, that $200 cable is very affordable.

For those who stand by their $200 cables, I would encourage you to buy a $6 cable and then have a friend swap them out and see if you can actually tell a difference not knowing which one you're using.

You can get the same quality for a lot less at either

www.ramelectronics.net

or

www.monoprice.com

In fact I know it to be true.

Thanks,

^^ Cool stuff.

I'd worry about that when we can actually buy displays that can handle all of that and do all of those nifty tricks.

At that point, guess what? I'd fully expect RAM and Monoprice to have perfectly good "HDMI 1.3 cables" that will be perfectly up for the task and cost a lot less than Monster.

If you can find Monster cables cheaper then more power to you!

I'm not knocking Monster's quality, I'm knocking their prices.

STUPID QUESTION OF THE DAY:

1.3? What is this, in relation to 1.1? And, if one has the latest SONY, TOSHIBA, SONY receiver, and projector, is this 1.3 going to upset all of that, and force one to buy new gear all over again, or will 1.1 be around for awhile?

Thanks, and thank you for not laughing too hard.

It's all fully backwards compatible.

I just ran something like 33 feet of MONOPRICE HDMI cable from my reciever's HDMI output to my projector. I think I only paid like 35 dollars for it or something like that because it was in-wall installation rated so more expensive then the regular stuff....

It looks amazing and is at full 1080p, and rocks the house.

35 dollars? You can't even get 3 feet of HDMI cable at Best Buy in the home entertainment section for that price....

Digital transfer wire price mark-up is a scam....feed into it all you want.

Meanwhile, I'll use the hundreds and hundreds of dollars I spent from not looking for 33 feet of Monster HDMI cable, and buy some content to watch...

monster cables are not high quality - rip off for the price, just like Bose home speakers. A lot of people think they are good when in fact its all caused by smart marketing. I agree with anyone who got $10 HDMI cables as opposed to $100 to $200 ones.
