The only reason I bought monster cables is because at the time I worked at Circuit City and I got really good deals on them. I use two 1000 series and one 700 series.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Monsters may be WAYYY overpriced, but they are exceedingly well built and do exactly as advertised, and they last.

Can someone tell me what might be some signs alerting me that my HDMI cable is either damaged or deficient?

-glitching on that input?
-blur on that input?
-etc?

Thanks for the info.

Three off the top of my head are:
- bad pixelation
- bad colors
- no hdmi signal

Other possible issues may be:
- no sound, but picture
- no picture, but sound

Does the image get better or worse if you move the cable around?

Given that Blu-ray discs max out at around 2 Gbps when uncompressed, there's no reason to even consider buying one of those cables.

Perhaps if you had a 4k source running at 120Hz? But nobody does.

Default Signal loss

I have been struggling to get a 1080p signal over a long hdmi cable run. I have 2 20-foot 1.3 hdmi cables daisy chained between my blu ray dvd and my Onkyo 606, then another 20-foot cable from the receiver to my 1080p HDTV. No signal. Tried an HDMI extender between the 2 20-foot runs and got 1080i signal. But still can't get 1080p. Any thoughts?

You need a signal 40' HDMI cable , that might work? Are they in the wall "daisy chained"?

Try BlueJeansCable's long-distance HDMI cables.

But it is strange that you're getting 1080i but not 1080p.

how come your Bluray player and receiver are so far apart from each other? I can understand the distance from the receiver to the TV...but from the player to receiver? 20ft?

so to get this straight...its 20ft cable from the bluray player to the receiver, then another 20ft cable from the receiver to the TV? so 40ft distance altogether?

Default Long Hdmi cable connection

The Blu Ray player is connected to the AV receiver (Onkyo 600) with 2 20-foot 1.3 Hdmi cables daisy chained with a booster/extender (total 40 feet). Then AV receiver is connected to HDTV (1080p) with another 20-foot cable. So the total run from Blu Ray to TV is 60 feet. Without booster/extender no signal. With booster/extender 1080i signal. No 1080p. Moved Blu Ray closer to TV with 6 foot cable and now have 1080p.

Wanted to keep the Blu Ray player in a different room where it could be used to also play CDs.

Again, my question is why can I get 1080i and 1080p? Must be the amount of data needed to go from i to p.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Im looking on Onkyo's website at the HT-SR600, it does not say anything about an HDMI conncection? are you sure its an Onkyo 600?

I think your problem is the multiple handshakes over such a long distance, and possibly an issue with your older model Onkyo.

Default Llong hdmi run

Sorry I forgot the correct model number for the Onkyo. It's TX-SR606. Didn't realize there would be other 606 models. It has 4 hdmi inputs and 1 out.

I think what you should do is buy one long cable, and skip the booster/extender...I think all those handshakes are giving you trouble.

Oh, for the love of Moses... there's at least one good reason, beyond debate: it's a high-quality cable. Without getting into the whole "bottom-line cables work just fine" argument (I'm finished with beating my head against that wall), nobody who owns one of these is ever going to conclude that it's inferior to a cheaper cable. Good grief! Just because you don't like the price, or see it as "overkill", it doesn't make it a useless product. Most people will not care about the difference, but that doesn't mean there is no difference, that's just a parsimonious myth. A few years of engineering school can make a person very fussy about materials and standards, (that's why we build a lot of things for ourselves that other people would just go out and buy), not everybody who wants one of these is being duped. If somebody wants it, and found a good deal on it, why crap all over that? Why is it so important to a few people around here to impose their home-theater decisions onto everyone else? Shouldn't contentment with your own cables be enough validation? Go watch your TV, and live-and-let-live. This petty war on Monster has led to way too much of people posing as experts just because they know how to link an article and selectively interpret it to the advantage of their argument... you've long since stated your case, you don't need to repeat yourself every time somebody says the name Monster. I think it's far past time to drop the "crusade".
