I love my monoprice cables.
I'm in Canada and ordered from them and then ordered again for myself and a friend (total was 6 cables + an optical cable) and it was still less than a single cost of cable from FF or Canada Computers. Monoprice FTW. |

Hello,
I just bought a 55 inch Led tv 120/240 hz (serie 8000 of samsung) with a 1000 watts samsung theater system and I would like to know what kind of Hdmi sould I get. Should a get a well known brand of something no name, a silver plated or gold? Can someone give any advise? Thank you |

I just got me more HDMI cables from monoprice.
The only thing is that the shipping is high for Canada but it still way less than a single cable bought from a store. I just got 2 HDMIs and one VGA->RCA cable and the whole thing with shipping came out to $20. Shipping was $10 so if I was in the US then it would be cheaper. I love moboprice. |

I could use some help....My concern is whether I could use 24AWG HDMI cables, as I can't find 22 AWG HDMI cables that are category 2 certified on Monoprice.....I think the common rule of thumb is any run over 25 feet should be 22AWG. So, if not category 2 certified, I would be sacrificing some bandwidth. So my current dilemma is do I use a 30' non-certified category 2 HDMI cable that is 22 AWG (which is very inflexibile too) and has a stronger signal or use a 30' certified category 2 HDMI cable that will be 24AWG, ( a bit more flexibility), but I'll be sacrificing signal strength. My opinion is that I shouldn't sacrifice the signal strength over the higher transfer speed.......anybody else agree?

You guys forget that some people will pay more if the cable is more visually appealing. Case in point I needed a short HDMI cable and went to Target. They had RCA brand for $26 and Sony for $34. I bought the Sony one because I liked the way it looked and in this particular set up the cable would be visible.
Some folks may like the way Monster cables look. If you're talking about short runs like 6 feet, which is probably what most people use, then there's no visual difference. However, you can't discount that some people like the thicker cables or cables that look nicer. There can also be a difference in build quality. That doesn't necessarily affect the picture quality but the cable may feel and look like it's built better. For this reason I like Monster. I understand there are cheaper options and that Monster cables aren't giving my any signal advantage but I'm willing to spend the money for looks. As such it's probably not best practice to call certain brands a waste of money. |

What is it you are looking for? Someone to confirm that the 1000HD cable sufficiently passes a 1080p signal without sparklies, dropouts, pixelation, etc.? I'm sure it will, as will most other cables recommended in this thread. To me, that's the beauty of HDMI. If it doesn't work correctly, it will be readily apparent in the picture quality. If you happen to be in the tiny minority of folks who get a bad Monoprice (for example) cable, you simply call them up and they'll send a free replacement. Or simply buy several and always have a spare in case the unlikely does happen and your cable craps out on you. |
