I've purchased HDMI cables from both Tartan and Monoprice for several different devices and all have worked perfectly. All were under $10 (6ft was the longest I've bought). Most I've paid was $10 for a 7ft. from Wal-Mart and it works fine, also.

Quite interesting. Skipping ahead to the results of the bench test, almost every six-foot cable tested passed every test.

Beyond that length, the only cables that passed every test, save ONE made by Acoustic Research, were made by the evil Monster Cable corporation.

Even the BJC Belden Series 1, a dryer-cord of an HDMI cable, failed @ 15', where Monster Cable had two @ 13', and one @ 16', pass.

But I suppose the folks at audioholics.com will be discounted as being paid off by Monster Cable.

The moral, though, is that if your run is 6' or less, buy from monoprice.

I try to recommend audio, as well as video cables from monoprice.com, to save people some money. Sometimes I get flamed big time for it. Happened here the other day: https://forum.blu-ray.com/audio-theo...gibraltar.html Afterall, everyone knows that $600 cables sound better than $10 ones. After a couple of remarks, I generally just leave the conversation. If you don't want to be flamed, watch who you mention monoprice.com around..............

Anybody with basic knowledge of arithmetic knows that $600 worth of electrons is more than than $10 worth of electrons. After all, I get more fruits and vegtables at the local grocery store when I pay more. Why should it be any different for cables?

All 3 HDMI cables that I bought were from amazon and I paid .87 CENTS each plus $2.98 shipping for a total of $5.59 and they work flawlessly.

I'm running a 35' monoprice HDMI cable from my receiver to my projector. Looks 1080/24p to me.

Oh, and it only cost me $23. The same length cable from Monster would have run over $300. Hmmm...$23 or $300? The difference is an Oppo BD player. I'm sticking with monoprice.

Its insulting that companies like Monster and Best Buy push products like this.

Some might argue that taking advantage of ignorant consumers isn't a crime.
I don't have problem with companies charging more for products. I did percentage of increase on $160 cable and a $12 cable it was 925%, but I do have a problem when companies rip off an unsuspecting consumer like that. When the people at Future Shop say it will be a night and day difference between the two cables and yet there will be no difference what so ever.

I agree with this to an extent Big Daddy. However, I think the more pertinent question is: do you really get more fruits and vegetables, or are you getting the same quantity of fruits and vegetables at 60x the price, with the only store's word that they contain all kinds of "improvements" that the $10 fruits and vegetables don't have?

I had a youtube clip of a CBC Marketplace about cheap HDMI cables. I took it off to put other things on my signature this thread reminded me how many people still over pay for HDMI cables. It's back as part of my signature thanks to this thread.

I switched both my Belkin cables out for cables i got free when the colour on my TV went funny. The reason the colour on my TV went funny was I turned the tint to -30 as opposed to 0. After I got the colour working correctly again which was my fault I left the free cables in and did not notice one difference in video or audio performance!

Well it's fairly amusing, read the comments on the results page and you see alot of favorable comments re Blue Jeans, and other fail points besides the Absolute Greatest Bandwidth location.

Compare the Monster 10m to the Monoprice 25' for instance .

More so the problems look to occur when you are doing long streaches [in-wall wiring comes to mind, I'm thinking primarily for projectors, but I dunno].

And some nice bit of hope as active solutions start coming into play, which can actually legitimately help .

[ edit ! ]
And the added bonus of that site posting a site of what digital signal degradation will look like.

Bluejeans cables, they're basically like the Oppo of the wire/cable world with great customer service. They took on Monster head on and didn't back down from their threats and lawsuits.

Bluejeans uses the industry standard Belden cable that the broadcast industry uses and was used at the Olympics and other major events and they don't charge an arm and a leg for them.
