When he came home he laughed because he said that when he went to grab one the price (it was a Dynex cable) was $12.00 and when he checked out he had to pay a grand total of .97! (that included his employee discount). Guess they have a wee bit of mark up on cables, eh?
Yeah, I work at Best Buy as well, and employee discounts bring Monster and Rocketfish cables down below $10 most of the time. It's pretty crazy. If you know someone who works there, definitely ask them to buy you cables if you need them. I've been using Monoprice cables, though, and they work perfectly fine.

Then why post the comment in the first place? Waste your money if you want to, but even over here in the UK on our C5 TV progamme "THE GADGET SHOW" they did a test of cables at different price points, and guess what?

They too found that with analogue, yes more money usually meany better quality, but since things have now all gone digital, that 'cheap-as-chips' will work equally as well as Monster(ously over priced) type high end ones.

Your TV and HD device are digital devices, they communicate in numbers, a data stream. If your TV gets its stream of numbers and puts up a picture, then the cable is doing everything that it is supposed to do. You absolutely WILL NOT IMPROVE THE PICTURE if you are already getting one with a cheaper cable, by buying a more expensive one...digital just does not work like that!

Still, do throw your cash away if you want to...you may as well have just burned it for all the extra good it did you (and I do mean that quite literally).

They do say that a fool and his money are easily parted .

All my cables are Monster, not because I think they are better, but because My brother works for an electronics chain here in Australia, and got them all for me really cheap. It would have cost me more for Blue Jeans or Monoprice Cables with postage to Australia than what it cost me for Monster. Companies like Blue jeans and Monoprice are great for American consumers, but because here in Australia we can't just buy them up the road or pay local delivery/postage costs for them, then they aren't always the best option.

Well now you see, that's already a far better reason than "they are expensive, they must be better" thinking demonstrated. The option of ' no choice' does not really leave you much room to manoeuvre. I can understand your position much better than john_1958.

Monster's overall build quality is better, however that doesn't justify the markup.
But if I can get them cheap you betcha that I will get them over any others.

I've seen HDMI cables that pass the signal and then literally fall apart.

If you go with them, avoid Monoprice's cables with tin connectors BTW. Go with gold.

Hey guys, I just bought a new Panasonic plasma and it sits VERY close to the wall on my wall mount. Anyway, the hdmi I have connected in the back is getting squished by the wall. Serious lack of space back there. Any recommendation for a particular L-shaped hdmi connector to save space? Thanks.

Digital signal - you will either get the signal or not. Love people thinking they know otherwise ...

What is that saying? A fool and their money are lucky to get together in the first place?
