There is always at least one of these threads in every technology forum.

Oh well, while the large retailers keep charging ridiculous amounts for their HDMI Cables and AV Accessories etc., it gives us online retailers even more business.

This is true for the most part unless you get one that has a horrible connector piece...

And depending on what you need it for, you might need v 1.4 rather than 1.3 but thats just a technicality.

3D with HD audio is handled fine with the old 1.3 cable on slim PS3s.

And yes it makes no difference if a cable is more expensive. As it doesnt make any noticable difference. This has been tested so many times by so many different people that work for so many different tech sites and the results are always the same.

No matter how much it costs, as long as the cable isn't faulty the PQ will be exactly the same.

And if you have a faulty cable you will know it, as you probably wont have a picture at all

There is no such thing as a 1.3 or a 1.4 CABLE, an HDMI cable is an HDMI cable...

True, HDMI version numbers refer to the software on the devices, not to the cables. But, there are actually two basic types of cables - standard and high speed. HDMI recommends high speed for 1080p video and for 3D. There are also standard and high speed versions that support ethernet over HDMI. And, there's an automotive version as well. That's a total of five cables. But, a basic high speed cable will handle just about everything you need these days.

I'm sorry, I was speaking in generality, and that is my fault. I guess I was just assuming that any HDMI cable that would be used for home theater purposes would be a High Speed HDMI cable, as those are the only ones that I have bought, even the el cheapos at Monoprice are High Speed...

Thanks for making me look like a dumb@$$... j/k

Anyone have any thoughts about Rocketfish HDMI cables? Are they any good? I was looking at them at BB the other day and was thinking about getting some.

Unless you are getting at a really good price, you may be able to do better online at Blue Jeans Cables or Monoprice.

Well, Rocketfish is a Best Buy / Future Shop exclusive brand, so make of that as you will. The prices are reasonable, but I don't have any hands-on experience with them (I use Monoprice HDMI cables exclusively in my house).

I say buy one and give us your impressions.

Why buy one and waste money. Monoprice for about $4.00

True, but don't forget to add shipping to the sub-total.

I've had good luck with Monoprice cables, but there are other forum members whose experiences with their cables haven't been as favourable, and may be looking at inexpensive alternatives. If steve1971 is willing to take a gamble on a Rocketfish cable, I'm not going to dissuade him, only because I'm curious about Rocketfish's quality.

I see. You want him to spend his money so you can get an idea of its quality. That nice of you.

I've always had good results with Monoprice cables. I recommend them to everyone I know. One 6' cable with shipping is about $6. It's hard to beat that IMO. I also recommend going with colors other than black. Since just about everything uses black cables and power cords I find it's easier to trace cables if you've used different colors for all your HDMI cables.

Just stick to Bluejeans or Monoprice. All HDMI cables perform the same if they are certified by HDMI Labs and get the HDMI seal of approval.

NEVER spend more than $20 bucks for any HDMI cable that is 10 feet and shorter in length.

With regards to what color cables to buy, that's all personal preference, I wanted my cables to blend in as well as possible with the wall, my wall that my plasma is hung onto is white so I ordered white cables to blend in so they are less noticeable.
