NEVER spend more than $20 bucks for any HDMI cable that is 10 feet and shorter in length.

With regards to what color cables to buy, that's all personal preference, I wanted my cables to blend in as well as possible with the wall, my wall that my plasma is hung onto is white so I ordered white cables to blend in so they are less noticeable.
That makes perfect sense. In my situation there is a rats' nest of cables behind my entertainment stand and having some cables that are different colors helps to figure out what's what when necessary.

It's just something to think about, and I wish I had thought about it ahead of time. I went with all black cables to start with and thought it would be stupid to use ones that were all different colors. Then one day I was trying to trace some cables and I thought to myself why don't they make these things in different colors?

if you are willing to pay bb price plus tax, rocketfish hdmi cable is fine. if you're looking for a cheaper hdmi cable with different color, you cannot go wrong with these- hdmi cable.

If you are not sure which HDMI cable to use, look no further.

WireWorld's Platinum Starlight only $1,000.00 per meter. Guaranteed to give you the best possible video and with its 100% silver over laid with 24K gold an incredible audio.

I think the Blu-ray spec maxes at 45 or something close to that. The average rate depends upon the movie/transfer. Some are quite high, averaging in the high 30's. Relatively speaking, these are probably the better looking transfers, and probably movies with lots of color. Rather than the popular "modern" muted palettes and digital color coding so that everything is the same 3 colors.

Which movies on bluray have the highest mbps? I would think bd titles like Baraka which is transfered with a 8k Ultra HD transfer would be up there?

Baraka maxes out 38.61Mbps according to AVS forums. 27Mbps average.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=1558

Akira maxes out at 42.59Mbps during one sequence.

Although I could swear that my car runs smoother after I take it to the car wash.

Why another thread like this had to be started I don't know, there are already heaps of them opened around here, and anything and everything about hdmi cables has already been covered in them. Opening new threads about the same old topics instead of searching for similar 1's which exist already seems to be becoming a bad habit of some members lately. Everywhere I look new threads are being opened about topics that can found on the thread database already, topics such as plasma burn in, break in periods, 3d smackdown topics, is this brand any good?, edge lit or backlit? etc etc, where there are dedicated threads which were opened years ago to discuss those things.

There is almost a thread opened for every single thing relating to home theatre here already, so opening new threads instead of people taking their time and searching the database for the answers they are after is just plan lazy, it's like many just want to be spoon feed the answers instead of doing their own research. I know we all need help from time to time, and help out others where we can, but how many times do the same topics have to be repeated before people understand that the info they are after is already here somewhere, they just need to find it?

That's fair enough, I'm not trying to be an as**ole to Wingman, but I just think it could have been posted in the sticky hdmi cable thread instead of starting a new 1. My rant wasn't really directed at Wingman, I was just speaking in general, about how I think too many threads are being opened unnecessarily lately, when the same or similar ones all ready exist.

Please don't bring the ignorance and stupidity of the http://www.polkaudio.com crew over here who all believe $1000 speaker wires makes a difference and then try to justify the cost performance ratio of it.

If Belden cables is good enough for the broadcast industry and NBC to carry the Olympics on then it's good for me and their cables are extremely affordable if purchased through Bluejeans http://www.bluejeanscable.com/

For anyone who thinks that spending outrageous prices on any cables makes a difference whether it be for HDMI or speaker then go start up your own website and rip people off over there.

I buy my cables based on aesthetics and construction. I have no problem paying a little more for a nice looking cable.

I have cables from Blue Jeans, Vintage Audio Labs, Monoprice, and Acoustic Research. However, I'm looking at different manufacturers so I can possibly buy all matching cables. Even though they are hidden and rarely ever seen, I like uniform aesthetics. Just call me weird, but that is how I am wired.

Another forum member that thinks that they know everything about cables and that they make no difference in performance. You might think differently with better quality gear and quite possibly Acoustic Room Treatments. System performance is only as good as the weakest link and everything in the system contributes to the sound.
