Doesn't help that the Phase One movies are the blandest looking movies.

If "bland" means shooting on film then I hope they go back to being bland more often lol

The first Thor wasn't that great. The first Captain America is the worst of the trilogy. But I'll give you Guardians and Iron man.

What I meant though was the later movies are just more enjoyable and am much more likely to rewatch

Weird, I think IM 1 is the blandest looking of all the movies.

I have to rewatch Iron Man 2. I hated the movie when it came out. This was Marvel's chance to further what they teased at the end of Iron Man. But instead it was just a solo movie and I felt they were holding so much back to tease to the other movies. Haven't seen it since. I wonder how I'd feel now in retrospect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And considering we eventually did get movies that delivered big time.

Iron Man 2 is SMUG, the kind of sequel where the filmmakers are so drunk on the (deserved) praise for the first movie that they write it while still intoxicated, resulting in a self-indulgent mess. Hey, let's start our Iron Man sequel with a fatuous, ten-minute SENATE HEARING, that's what the kids want to see...!
The Senate Hearing was one of the few parts for the film i liked! Basically everything up to after the Monaco fight was great but went down hill from there until the final fight

Eh, I don't care much for it. Seems they were more focused on setting up SHIELD and The Avengers than focusing on the story at hand.

Despite really liking Civil War I think I'd almost put The First Avenger before it with Winter Soldier last in the trilogy. I say this, yet Civil War is ahead of TFA on my list that I created last week...

I love the sound and visuals when the classic F1 cars are unleashed. Retro porn.

I enjoy all three Iron Man films equally, and never understood the hate for part 2. My opinion of the trilogy hasn't changed over the years.

That and Rhodey's flyby of the control tower. Sonic bliss.

A lot of people saw Tropic Thunder, and Downey is friends with Shane Black who wrote Iron Man 3, so his friends writing the Iron Man movies is 1 for 1.

justin theroux (sp?) wrote iron man 2, shane black wrote iron man 3, shane black has impressive credentials prior to getting the job for iron man 3. justin theroux does not and still doesn't. there were many other many writers for tropic thunder, and tbh, it still isn't that great.

Iron Man 2 is a better and more important movie. It expands on Nick Fury's role in the MCU and introduces Black Widow and a recasted Rhodey as War Machine. It's not perfect, but it's entertaining, and I think the fight at the end with Iron Man and War Machine up against the Hammer drones and Whiplash is infinitely better than the crap at the end of Iron Man 3 with the wasted multitude of shit-armors and Pepper Potts saving the day against wannabe Mandarin.
