Question Whats Your Job/Occupation?

Hi just curious to see what the jobs of some folks are on this forum and how you guys fund your blu's/HT equipment!

I am in college and i work in retail for centerplate and im also a telemarketer that calls corporations(thankfully not homes).

what about you guys?

im fortunate to have two jobs in this economy while a lot of people dont even have one, good luck to those unemployed!

I'm a CPA. When I first started out I thought it was interesting but now, I'm not sure I want to continue in this profession. The only reason I'm not moving is because of the turbulent climate of the job market these days. Accounting certainly has it's benefits and decent job security.

I look at my bosses and they are the biggest ---holes in the world. I hope I never become like them. And you know it's bad when you wish for horrible things to happen.

So yea... that's my mundane existence.

Inventory Clerk for Coca Cola. I count cases of coke for hours and hours. It's ... fun? It's not that bad, just a lot of paperwork and numbers to deal with.

So why not quit and start your own small practice? Unless you are worried about still becoming like your bosses.

It seemed like a great idea when I was in school, and I'm 3/4 of the way through the CPA exam (still have BEC left, though I don't think it will be a problem) but now I kind of hate accounting, and you don't give me any hope.

I would like to open my own firm but I've only been in the industry for about 4 years. That's no where near enough experience to open up a private practice.

When I say I don't want to become like my bosses, I guess I mean I don't want to ever be stuck in one mindset. For example, my bosses like things done A - B - C - D - E. But I prefer to go A - D - E cutting my work down two steps, saving an hour or so of work, and getting the exact same result. But they complain and chastise for any deviations from their ways. It's pretty frustrating and every single one of my friend's and people I've met in my same position feel their bosses are like that as well. I think it's because technology has made things so simple we can take some shortcuts but some of the older generation do not like change. Case in point, only one of the partners in the firm who is the youngest partner and most flexible, sees my point of view and agrees.

Good luck with BEC! I'm sure you'll do fine. I had the most trouble with FAR. I failed that bastard three times before I passed it. Ugh. Glad that is over with. I thought Regulation was the easiest. I studied less than a month for that one.

I think it's $10.25 starting out, no experience. Not bad, but there about the only company (Major) that will take people with no experience.

That's still pretty good experience. I'd do it just to learn what they do so I could do it myself. Sometimes taking a job like that does have those kind of hidden perks. I have a laptop that has been nothing but problems and, they are constantly fixing it do to the protection service plan. If I knew what they were doing, I could do it myself and save the days to weeks of time it takes them to get it back to me.

I work for a airline that has never flown, ive worked there 3 years.. we have generated 0 dollars of revenue.. I work in the IT department in which our budget is 0 dollars.

The ceo does not see the purpose of an IT department but regularlly needs us, few people know what I do, and the people that know what I do greatly appreciate me..

Im the lowest paid worker for the entire company where newer employees are paided greatly then me, even the apprentices who come here to learn get more then me, as Im paid minimum wage, the only employee paid minimum wage.

Over the years I have become ever so greatfully more spiteful taking more and more liberties because everyone seems to push me to "push back" so in some ways I don't care anymore.. but I love the people that work here, so I try hard and get my work done not for the company not anymore, but for them...

One day this airline might fly but when that happens ill be gone..
