The "cheese" factor on this movie is not high; I'd say medium. But that's on some dialogue and story setup, and not on the action sequences. Stallone cares about the subject matter. Otherwise he wouldn't have done it; Rambo 3 has the same "serious" subject but that was watered down with high-cheese Hollywood action.

The level of violence is at the top. It's not too stylized which makes it even more disturbing. The violence on the Redband trailer is all here. I wonder if Stallone would release an Unrated cut on BD; I doubt it because it defeats the purpose of showing how gory and ugly war can be. I don't know the MPAA's rating on this but don't bring your kids in even if it's an R. It'll give them nightmares.

The supporting cast did a good job. The script was adequate with some interesting ideas presented. As Rambo, he didn't have much to say but I think Stallone wants us to listen to the conversation like Rambo was, and put your own thoughts into it.

The sound mixing and design were great. It'll be a good demo disc though again the audience you're demoing should be above 18. The VFX work was mostly great and very realistic. Some of the roto work wasn't too convincing but you need to know what to look at. The big surprise was that the production didn't hire the big companies to do the sound mixing and VFX. So this was in essence a mid-low budget movie.

This is essentially a war movie. Less technically challenging that Saving Private Ryan, which have a high replay value based on cinematography alone, it may prove in time to be a cult hit. It's not an "entertaining" movie. But for the subject matter and the idea that war-time PTSD never really goes away, John Rambo aka Rambo 4 is worth watching.

Well its R Rated for a reason. I assure you that they have a good reason for showing that much gore. If you spend 10 bucks at a movie theatre, I think you are not losing anything.

Even Sean Hannity said that it was his favorite Rambo movie, and that it had a very interesting story.

The MPAA rating system is screwed up. PG-13 movies have as much violence as some R-rated movies but because there are no blood spurting, it's "okay". Casino Royale gets a PG-13 while Billy Elliot got an R (for language)?

I'm glad Sweeney Todd got an R.

This is what I'm saying...Stallone said he wanted to make certain scenes disgusting and gory so that you know how atrocious it really is over there. They don't want to downplay the issue. I've heard the story is excellent also...so I can't wait to see it.

Now if only Stallone's face could be replaced, his "career" could go on for another decade or even longer.

it seemed to me that the movie is more involved with snakes and torture. Look pretty good on the previews.

I love the clips during the commercials, but the fact that they are using a song from Disturbed "Bodies", it is coming off as cheesy!!

I'm reading massively good hype all over the internet about this flick.

Reviewers don't seem to love it, but the average people going to it will eat it up, this sounds like it will be seriously intense sh^&.

Can't wait to see it!

Can't wait to see this. Been a Rambo fan since the late 80s but this will be the first Rambo flick I'll watch in theaters. I still wish they called it John Rambo.

no go see it in the theater. The audio kicked hardcore ass! It was like Cloverfields dynamics during action scene but with rambo it was loud and booming the entire time! PCM 7.1= HEAVENLY DROOL!
