I skipped through the disc and didn't notice any issues with mine (hardware is a 60GB ps3)

I will try watching the entire movie and see if I notice the problem, otherwise my discs might be problem-free

My player is a 60G PS3. I went to Bestbuy and got a replacement disk. Works fine at the points I had issues with the last disk. Haven't had a chance to rewatch the whole thing yet.

Hmmmm. WHAT'S GOIN' ON?! The problem is no longer there! hahaa- I tried playing the "bad" disc again today, and, the problem at 12:38 on the unrated directors cut is gone! All of Chapter 4 is fine now. Maybe all I had to do was power off and on the machine again? Anyone try this?

several times. My disk had the same issue on a 40G PS3 as well,same exact spot. I have not doubt that disk was defective for the directors cut. The theatrical version played great

This is so strange. It's a day later, and the Directors Cut is playing fine - It happened at 12:38 yesterday.. it was the part where Riddick is giving a surprise speech inside the house of "The Holy Man" (and I'm not accidentally playing the Theatrical Cut, because the spot is at 9 minutes on the Theatrical Version)

I'd love to get the twin-pack but the whole disc error thing is scaring me off. Any idea if the bad batches are still around at Amazon?

Just watched mine last night from beginning to end, no problems where everyone else appears to have the same problem.

Used a 60GB 1st Gen PS3. I did notice near the end when Riddick is doing battle with those guys, it sort of 'skips' almost. But I think it had something to do with the cuts for the unrated edition?

the issue I was having was a hold...the a quick scramble, then it was 90 seconds or so ahead. Don't have it anymore.

Easiest one I could check was the seen where Judy Dench (elemental) arrives to talk to Riddick at the Holy Man's house. She gets away from his blade and starts talking....freeze.... jolt... skip 90 seconds

Ahh...Mine played fine for that scene. Was it just that scene that everyone was having problems with?

Reminds me of a problem I had with a CD once. Had been playing fine, then one day it just skipped like crazy on one track. Took it out to give it a wipe and... found a small piece of cheese stuck to the bottom of the CD! God knows how it got there, but sans-cheese it played just fine again.
Glad your problem seems to be sorted for now.

Yeah- I bought my DOUBLE-PAK on eBay from BUY.COM. So, I couldnt just simply run back to a store and replace it. BUY.COM emailed me a fully paid UPS return label and everything.. But I didnt want to wait a week for BUY.COM to get mine, then wait another week for the replacement only to find out the replacement was bad, too.

So I tried it the next day, and, the entire movie works fine

I got the 2 pack also,, unfortunatly riddick freezes at the 14 minute mark for me also on my sony S350....replacement time,...

I watched Riddick as well on my 350 and it played fine and I have only been using this player for a couple of weeks.

Try taking the disc out. Turning off your player. Then turn it on. Put the disc back in. Play it again. That's all it took. It worked and never froze again.

Well i just bought this recently for the theatrical cut (the uk version only has the directors cut) and the directors cut freezes on my ps3 with firmware updated to 3.01, thought that universal would have recalled any defective discs by now, oh well

I've got the two films coming in the mail, but I ordered them separately...not the 2-pack. So I'm hoping that mine will play alright. And I've got the Oppo BDP-83. The only time I've had playback problems is when there was a slight fingerprint smudge on the disc. Wiped that off and problem went away.
