The cheap cardboard glasses that came with Journey are uncomfortable. The 3D effect was only sharp and clear about 20% of the time. About 80% of the time there were colorful halos around the objects and everything looked a little blurry. I developed a headache after about 30 minutes (which I am still suffering through this morning). Because the glasses darken the image substantially, it is recommended that you turn the brightness way up. The colors are all unnatural. Overall, it's a very uncomfortable experience (at least for me). It's a fun little novelty for one run through, but I will not be viewing it again in 3D. The picture quality in 3D is poor. Some reviewers are giving the PQ a high mark for the 3D effect, but it doesn't represent overall PQ. Like I said, colors are WAY off and I found the majority of the movie to be blurry with halos everywhere. I should also note that this is NOT the same method they used in theaters. The theater 3D version was better with a different kind of glasses. The method used for the BD disc is the same cheap red lens/green lens technology used for the last 30 years and it's not nearly as good.

The 2D version's colors are MUCH better, but the overall print was quite soft and lacking in detail. The 2.5/5 score I gave Journey reflects what I feel the 2D version should get. I can't give a score on the 3D version since it is so unnatural and different that there is no way to scale that in comparison with other movies.
I know it's an old post, but I wanted to comment on it.

Ric, the theater experience wasn't much different from the home experience. We literally left 30 minutes into the movie because we were getting dizzy with bad headaches. The images were barely three dimensional, and very soft. It was almost as if you were staring through an out of focus camera.

P.S. I bought this on BD as well, cuz I am silly like that.

I'm watching the Tropic Thunder actor commentary, and Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black etc were just laughing at how Jay Baruchel- the kid who improvised that Blu-ray vs HD DVD discussion in the jungle- actually predicted HD DVD would win, and how funny it was that he was wrong. Ben Stiller started to go into specifics about how after Blu-ray won, they had to do some edits. I don't know what, but I have a feeling it could have had something to do with Paramount being mistaken as the deciding factor. This and Iron Man are both Paramount/Dreamworks movies, after all.
