Preliminary reviews on LOTR are not good with regards to picture quality. Some are giving it 3/5 PQ rating. I hope when the extended editions are released, they will have improved PQ. I'm not going to invest my money in sub-par discs.

Those screenshots look like they've been artificially sharpened. The screenshots I've seen from professional reviewers seem to be rather soft -- lacking in fine detail. I hear that DNR was applied heavily. I'm waiting for my copies before I make a final judgment.

I got PATF last week, it does look that good if not better. As for LOTR, I'd definitely prefer the dvd over the blu-ray based off of reviews. The dvd was pretty mighty anyway.
