Grain =
![]() Sidenote: Watched Black Hawk Down for the first time in blu last night.. wasn't impressed at all, was a significant improvement over dvd but not the quality some boasted about - 3.8/5 lots of noise. Pan's jumps out of the screen with depth and detail that blew me away. I've watched cars, rats, POTC series, spidey 3.. pan's impressed me. I'm not quite sure on the whole dnr thing, but if dnr did that to Pan's long live DNR. Last edited by Entertainment72; 05-30-2008 at 01:31 PM. |

I believe those aren't in HD, could be wrong. If they are in HD they lack a significant amount of contrast, then again LCD's could only wish for the contrast that SXRD's and Plasma's offer.

Not to hijack this thread but it is just not about grain all the time, Black Hawk Down's dark areas and depth at times seemed shallow...empty. There were moments of excellent PQ but it was inconsistent. 300's PQ seemed to be more consistent with thier intention and imho it looked great. Pan's was consistent 80-90% of the time, blu-ray.com movie review of Pan's was right on.
Out of the 50 or so blu's I have including many with super PQ, Pan's is now my "look what blu can do" reference demo. The 7.1 DTS-HD MA sound codec doesn't hurt either. Last edited by Entertainment72; 05-30-2008 at 01:37 PM. |

LOL. Honestly, I can't really tell a lot of difference between "grainy" movies and non grainy movies. All I know is that they look absolutely beautiful on blu-ray. If I were to become as picky as some of you are it would prob drive my wife crazy, hehe.

I re-downsized to a higher resolution, adjusted gamma a touch, and re-uploaded.
These ARE offscreen, so they're not going to be sharp as nails. Not to mention that in pic #3 she wouldn't hold still for the the cameras, but I figured if I downsized enough you wouldn't notice. Oh well. She still has cute love-handles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by cakefoo; 05-30-2008 at 02:18 PM. |
