Equipment: 42" Philips LCD / PS3 / Sony Cybershot 12.1 Megapixels Digital Camera

Movie: Mission: Impossible

PQ Rating: 3/5 - This disc has a considerable amount of grain, but not in a bad way, as it gives it a very filmic look. There is a decent amount of dirt and specks visible on the transfer, however. Finer detail is only really recognizable in close-ups, while the rest seems to have a slightly soft focus. Blacks are mostly solid, though there is the occasional crush. If you're expecting a transfer as clean as the third movie, don't look to this disc, but for a film that's 12 years old - if you're a fan - I would recommend it, as it's easily a significant upgrade over the DVD.

The prestige was the same, encoded for HD-DVD and the BD suffered for it. (Its still a better encode than BB).

The point is it is not worth 4.5. Warner could be so much better but their not and wont be for a long time.
The Prestige is a Disney/buena vista movie. what are you smoking?

I'm pretty sure he probably found some of the best looking shots in the movie, because it looks pretty awful overall. Those shots are definitely misleading.

I didn't do too much "cherry-picking" on Mission: Impossible. I went with a few close-ups, as they show more detail, but I also had mid-range shots and they still hold up pretty well. The PQ is definitely far from awful, unless you're someone who only gets into newer, shinier films. Like I mentioned, it has some considerable grain and there's not as much fine detail, which is the norm for movies filmed in that time period. For a catalog title, it's fairly competent.

That's why I'm partially afraid to post screens from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Heh.

I laughed out load more during 10,000 BC than any comedy I've watched this year. I thought it HAD to be a spoof of something.

Equipment: 42" Philips LCD / PS3 / Sony Cybershot Digital Cam

Movie: Dark City

PQ Rating: 3.75/5 - Odd textures, halos and EE can be found quite frequently. The film is also very dark, though it still looks good. Fine detail can be spotted on most of the surroundings, but the actors look a might bit waxy on occasion. Still, despite its flaws, this is a much better presentation than the DVD. Note: The final shot takes place at the end of the movie and the colors are intentionally blown out.
