Yeah, 120 hz is nice and will be on my next set. I am pretty happy with my TV without it though.

Will someone post some shots of 2001? I want to see if it is worth the purchase for me. It would be a blind buy...

That's true. However, many people like to see what the image looks like in a "real life" set-up on a TV or screen.

You will also notice that screenshots from a smaller flat panel will look better than on a 120" screen. The larger the display, the more the imperfections and artifacts show up. However, I think it is important to post images of large screen set-ups so people can see realistically how they can look in a home theater.

If the goal were just to post the "best" possible image, then a pure image capture off a BD drive on a computer is the way to go. But , I think the goal is to post how good these images look on a home theater set up. To do that, a photo of the actual display is needed.

The images that I post will never look the "best" because I'm taking a photo of a 106" screen. However, people can see what kind of image is possible on a 106" screen in their home theaters and they'll see that it can look dang good. It's also a fair way to see differences in projection equipment and display devices.

Usually that much red push indicates a camera problem, not the display. Red push is one of the most common camera issues with taking screenshots. Usually it's a problem with exposure settings as low-light situations tend to warm the images greatly.

Why would I take offense? I agree that animation or cartoons appear better because of brightness, color, and direct capture which allows for fewer artifacts. However, you certainly DO see differences based upon the source and the equipment used. It's still valuable to post screenshots of animated movies. I didn't post the Simpson's shot to "cheat". I just post what I watch whether it be live action or animation.

A photo/digital image of a displayed picture on a screen is at the mercy of the display, the display setup, the camera used, the lighting... too many variables and still cannot give the actual view of standing in front of the display itself.
Displaying them on this screen doesn't show me what I would be seeing if I were playing the disc, ya know?

As for the captures(like mine), one can display them on their own screen/HDTV and see what we(I) am seeing - pretty much.

The images I post here, are what the drive/processor/graphics card is delivering to my screen.

Cartoons on a 200x300 screen blown up to 1920x1080 would look... poor!
CGI/cartoons are the best source for showing off a HDTV/Blu-ray.

Cartoons/animation are not cheating, they are exploiting! Exploiting what the hardware can actually present to us. A perfect picture!

EDIT: This is the best *real* image I have available to me from a BD... don't even know what movie it is from(BD_Trailer.wmv).
