The cheap cardboard glasses that came with Journey are uncomfortable. The 3D effect was only sharp and clear about 20% of the time. About 80% of the time there were colorful halos around the objects and everything looked a little blurry. I developed a headache after about 30 minutes (which I am still suffering through this morning). Because the glasses darken the image substantially, it is recommended that you turn the brightness way up. The colors are all unnatural. Overall, it's a very uncomfortable experience (at least for me). It's a fun little novelty for one run through, but I will not be viewing it again in 3D. The picture quality in 3D is poor. Some reviewers are giving the PQ a high mark for the 3D effect, but it doesn't represent overall PQ. Like I said, colors are WAY off and I found the majority of the movie to be blurry with halos everywhere. I should also note that this is NOT the same method they used in theaters. The theater 3D version was better with a different kind of glasses. The method used for the BD disc is the same cheap red lens/green lens technology used for the last 30 years and it's not nearly as good. The 2D version's colors are MUCH better, but the overall print was quite soft and lacking in detail. The 2.5/5 score I gave Journey reflects what I feel the 2D version should get. I can't give a score on the 3D version since it is so unnatural and different that there is no way to scale that in comparison with other movies. Last edited by ricwhite; 11-01-2008 at 03:34 PM. |

The Mist PQ was "good" but nothing great. I gave it 3/5. It wasn't greatly detailed and the whites were hot -- which washed out the image greatly. Shadow detail in dark scenes was only okay. Colors were okay except the hot whites washed them out some. Very few scenes had depth. It was certainly better than SD but only an average looking BD movie, IMO.
