RGB set to full

Super White on

Set to Y Pb/b Pr/Cr

1080p/24 on, if your TV supports it

I think that's it.

I have a 720p. Should I set it to that or 1080i? I heard there 720p settings look bad on some TVs.

Thanks for the help

http://sr-388.net/images/patterns/Brightness.jpg save that link to your ps3, then turn RGB to full. if you can read it your tv supports rgb, if you cant read it then it does not.

Yeah thanks for posting that picture. I went on my PS3 saved the picture, and I had my RGB at full and I couldn't see the 1233 at all(it was just a black/blank screen), but when I changed it to limited, I could clearly see the 1234. So I guess my tv doesn't suppose RGB full!

Hey, i have the same model tv as you. Just curious - I've used some of the settings for calibration for this tv found on this forum, and then tweaked them to my liking. I was curious as to what your calibrated settings were, if you wouldn't mind sharing them, and how much you like them. Secondly, I was curious: do you yourself have your ps3 set to full or limited with this tv? I've tried both on my ps3 with my tv, and I haven't noticed a larrge difference either way...what setting do you use? Thanks for the info...

Hi
my calibration settings are
contrast-76
brightness-53
sharpness-15(sharpness does nothing for blu-ray by the way)
tint-50(default setting)
color-50 to 54(depending on how much rich color you want, before i used 54 but that was to much color, so now i use 52)
backlight-7 or 8 (i try to keep the blacks black.)
And im using dynamic mode with these settings,i like them very much. also for even more calibration settings you can check what the guys at avs use http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=1500 they even have some pictures of the after they used the settings.credit goes to bkbluray for sending me that link.

Anyone care to comment about using RGB on the Sony XBR4 series? I haven't tried gaming with these settings, but it makes my wallpaper look like crap... everything becomes really dark, I'm guessing the black crush described by Icemage is what's going on.

My vote is for RGB limited on this TV.

Edit: I just stumbled upon this over on the "dark side": http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=934751

Many new LCD TV's support both Limited and Full, as standard they are set-up to Limited, my Sharp TV is anyhow.

In your TV's HDMI options you will see an option for RGB Limited/Full, or similar names.

No need to change it, both will provide identical images when set-up correctly.

This only affects games anyhow, you should use Y Pb/b Pr/Cr for Blu-ray playback.

I believe that selecting Automatic instead of RGB or Y Pb/b Pr/Cr will give you RGB for games and the XMB screen and Y Pb/b Pr/Cr dor BD/DVD's.

I think that's it.
While some tvs to be set correctly need RGB full, the majority of tvs for proper dvd/BD playback need the PS3 to send RGB limited. The rest of the settings are dead on. Improperly setting the RGB option can prevent the PS3 from sending blacker than black information from the disc and lead to black "crush".

So even if my TV supports RGB, should I still set it to limited?

I've got a Samsung HP-S4253 by the way. In case anyone knows a specific setting.

Thanks for the link Saprano. I appreciate the help, all
