Panasonic OLED does not get UHD Premium Certification: "Last but not least, the Osaka-headquartered TV maker announced that it’s finally bringing its critically-acclaimed Panasonic TX-65CZ950 OLED TV (which was until now only available to buy in the United Kingdom and Europe following launch at IFA 2015) to the US market. Because its peak luminance topped out at 450 cd/m2 and gamut coverage was limited to 86% DCI-P3, the 65in CZ950 won’t carry UHD Alliance’s “Ultra HD Premium” logo. Nevertheless, it still delivered the best overall picture quality we’ve seen on any television to date (in case you’ve missed it, here’s our very recent review). We’ll be interviewing Panasonic spokespersons on the CES showfloor to find out more details about these products, and will update this article "accordingly. (HDTVTEST article) |

Sony launched its 2015 line-up earlier this year and only the X93C and X94C included support for HDR. However, a software update will bring it to all of the Ultra HD TVs launched this year. Existing owners of the TVs will be able to get a taste of HDR even though the TVs will not be able to reproduce the full dynamic range. This requires full array local dimming on LCD displays.
http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php...3eJLp4JAY71.99 So, you will see what the display capability allows, but no specular highlights at 1000 nits. http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.p...&id=1436424059 Last edited by raygendreau; 01-05-2016 at 08:13 PM. |

Yes. Better in a low ambient light environment. I would call it HDR Lite. No UHD Alliance Premium Certification for this Sony. It is the price you pay for early adoption.

Does anyone know if any of these players will downscale to 1080p? I can't see a Ultra HD set being released this year that meets my requirements and price, as such I want to be able to buy a Ultra HD Blu-ray player and have it down sample/scale to 1080p so I can watch it on my 9G Pioneer Kuro.
![]() I'm guessing that it is not possible which is why a standard Blu-ray is included in most Ultra HD Blu-ray releases. |
