Raymondo, my internet speed is terrible (but I'm not gonna spunk loads of money every month on a faster version) so with all due respect I couldn't be less interested, even if it's a bit-for-bit Blu-ray representation sent thru the internet. I haven't even bothered going after the 4K rips that are out there and they're free, never mind actually paying for a movie online.

That one film! Are you trying to pretend to be argumentative or is this something else?
It's one persons opnion, I am sure you can cope with one counter opinion
I want 4k, I just don't like the emperors new clothes thanks

And negativity coming from the DTS fan club?? Lol
Say 4 positive things about DTS for me, or how CDS and SDDS were better than AC-3
How will Dolby vision make 28 days look better? Will the atmos mix be amazing on the jazz singer?

Playready side loading = Non Realtime Transmission and another way to get Movies at low bandwidth now also part of ATSC 2.0 = Must be supported by W3C extension to HTML5 which also supports Vidipath. (in Playready ND whitepapers and Panasonic proposal for UHD Digital bridge)

As mentioned before, BDA with the UHD Blu-ray digital bridge wants exactly the same features that UltraViolet provides to the consumer in the home; movie playable on any platform in the home and can be copied to Flash/hard disk or between platforms in the home to be played outside the home. Central Media Hub to consolidate media and provide Metadata and searchable database for all platforms in the home. This is now possible with new larger drives >> example: 5 TB USB hard disks @ $135 and 6TB drives for network servers.

UHD Blu-ray will just be one of a number of distribution schemes. You still have to deal with consumers wanting to buy something they can hold in their hands.

There are only TEN Dolby Vision theaters worldwide that will be showing Star Wars? It's all well and good these amazing new formats (DV, laser) coming online but damn, it's happening mighty slowly.

I am hesitant to move up to 4k television and movies knowing that they already have 8k tvs ready when they debuted 4k at the electronics show.

Last time I checked you had to use the VUDU app to download a UV title and the app was really lame, only two options after you download a title, watch it or delete it. The app player quality is awful and does not ask where to download the files. Contrary to the UV (Ultra Violet) site, you can not transfer the title to other devices or watch on other devices, must watch on the PC it was downloaded to. Has this changed? If so, references.

Explain this: I streamed (watched) a 110 minute UV title (HDX) via VUDU but it took almost 200 minutes to download that same movie.

If you have a UV title from Flickster (and others) it will show up in your movies at VUDU but if you want to download them then you must go to the Flickster site (and others) and use their apps (which I have not tried). Has this changed?

IMO, UV = Fail with many hundreds of millions of UV capable devices worldwide and only 25 million UV accounts.

There is so little 8k content, bar the few 70mm movies and the chance people shoot digital in 8k soon 4k is perfect for home use and 35mm

Vudu Launches Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos Video Streams

Dolby Vision 4K streams viewable in HDR on Vizio’s Reference TVs

Vudu became the first video-streaming service to offer 4K Ultra HD movies remastered in Dolby Vision high-dynamic range (HDR) as well as movies with Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound.
Twenty-one Warner Brothers titles are available in Dolby Vision, and nine of those also feature Dolby Atmos.
The movies are viewable in HDR only on a pair of Vizio Reference-series Ultra HD TVs, the $129,000 120-inch RS 120 and the $5,999 65-inch RS 65 Reference. Both incorporate Dolby Vision and the Vudu 4K app.
The Vizio TVs pass through the Atmos streams to Atmos-equipped AVRs for decoding and to a $1,699 Atmos-equipped Yamaha soundbar due in December. Atmos AVRs are available at prices down to a suggested $479 in the Denon line, $499 in the Onkyo line, and $599 in the Pioneer line.
The six Vudu titles with Dolby Atmos can be enjoyed in Atmos, though not in Dolby Vision, through a Roku 4 set-top box connected to a 4K TV, Dolby said.
Previously, Dolby has also said that Netflix will offer Dolby Vision titles this year, starting with season one of the “Marco Polo” series that it produces. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment also plans to distribute streaming content encoded in Dolby Vision, Dolby has said.
Dolby Vision delivers brighter highlights and a higher light-to-dark contrast ratio than standard 4K streams, and it widens the color gamut.
Dolby Atmos enables movie makers to precisely place and move multiple individual sounds in three-dimensional space at any given time. Each sound is reproduced clearly and distinctly, sounds pan more smoothly around listeners, and sounds are reproduced above listeners to add a height dimension to the sound track.

The titles with Dolby Vision and Atmos are “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Gallows,” “San Andreas,” “American Sniper,” “Man of Steel,” “Jupiter Ascending,” “Edge of Tomorrow” and “Into the Storm.”

The titles with Dolby Vision but without Atmos are “Vacation,” “Focus,” “Get Hard,” “Run All Night,” “The Lego Movie,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” “The Hangover” trilogy and “Magic Mike XXL.”

Common File format is used by HTML5 <video> EME MSE, Vidipath and UHD Blu-ray digital bridge, it will be used by Ultraviolet.

The Common File Format (CFF) is not yet available from any UltraViolet Retailers, but it is expected to launch soon. UltraViolet capable streaming providers already have their own proprietary formats available for download, but they are unable to be copied from one device to another, and they are not cross-platform.

Once the UltraViolet CFF is made available by a retailer, downloaded video files will be able to be copied between devices, stored on physical media (e.g. DVDs, SD cards, flash memory) or cloud services. They will be playable on any UltraViolet device or software player registered to the household account, but they will not work with any devices which are not compatible with the UltraViolet CFF. No retailers have announced support for the CFF.

CFF Compatible devices will include set-top boxes as well as Internet-enabled devices such as computers, game consoles, Blu-ray Disc players, Internet TVs, smartphones and tablets.[19]

The Common File Format uses the Common Encryption (CENC) system. The format is based on the ISO Base File Format, and ensures that a consistent set of codecs, media formats, DRMs, subtitling, and metadata, are used across the whole UltraViolet ecosystem. The CFF will use the .uvu file extension. Because every UltraViolet title should arrive in this format, it will generally play on any UltraViolet registered device. The format is based on existing standards from MPEG, SMPTE, and others, and was originally derived from the Microsoft Protected Interoperable File Format (PIFF) specification. The goal was to avoid the problem of different file formats for different players and to make it possible to copy files from player to player.[20]

Yup, admittedly very RARE birds but, a theatrical HDR grade results in an HDR home delivery grade, which will be accessible to many more consumer eyes ....in the comfort of their homes.
