There was a Cameron feature in a recent edition of either Empire or Total Film (Can't remember which) where he was quoted as saying he'd signed off The Abyss and there might be a blu-ray coming in the future. So it does seem to check out based on that. Although I've heard he's mentioned something similar in the past and obviously nothing transpired.

Agreed. If you put the ear to the ground it's quite clear Abyss and also Titanic is coming. The sound of it is coming from many sources now, even if none is official yet.
